Senior Product Designer, Accessibility

YOUR MISSION

Accessibility is a driving product priority for MURAL and a core workstream within the Platform pillar. To ensure that we're enabling and delivering an inclusive collaboration experience for all members and abilities, we have a team and roadmap focused directly on this work. As a product designer within the Design System and Accessibility Team you will have one of the more specialized roles in the design organization. You will rely on your passion for accessible design to make MURAL accessible to more people in more situations by designing for situational, temporary and permanent disability scenarios.

In this specialized design role you’ll spend roughly 70% of your time delivering at the feature level for the accessibility roadmap. The balance of that time (30%) will be allocated to contributing to accessibility requirements within the design system library—in some cases, working with the design systems team to build new design components from scratch—while also coaching across product pillars to help all product teams meet and exceed accessibility requirements.

• Partner with your cross-functional team to identify and deliver design solutions that support a dedicated Accessibility roadmap.
• Support the adoption of accessible design across all product pillars.
• Work with design system designers to ensure all components meet accessibility requirements before they are made available to all product designers.
• When appropriate, contribute to a growing design system of user interface components that meet or exceed WCAG guidelines.
• Take part in user interviews and usability tests within your product area.
• Document design decisions and accessibility guidelines for other members of the design team to follow.
• Effectively communicate your ideas, concepts and insights to stakeholders at all levels.

YOUR PROFILE

• Working in the field of UX / Product Design for 3-5 years
• A passion for accessible design reflected in 3+ years of cumulative experience working on web interfaces that solve for accessibility challenges
• Working knowledge of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 Guidelines and a well-formed point of view on how they are optimally applied within product design delivery cycles
• Proven experience conducting accessibility-centric design research
• Experience working with or within Design Systems
• Knowledge of HTML & CSS
• Understanding of ARIA and how it is applied to a user interface design
• Knowledge of interaction design patterns and standards across platforms
• Confident champion of Human Centered Design
• Loves working in a collaborative agile environment
• Superb attention to detail
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
• Ability to work from a remote location

• Experience working with distributed teams
