We’re looking for a Senior Design Manager to grow and manage a small but growing team of exceptional Product Designers working across our Consumer and Ops pods.The ideal candidate is a business minded leader who has experience managing teams that have shipped and iterated on polished consumer products that supports a long and complex user journey. This role will report to the VP of Design.

About the teams

The Consumer team vision is to deliver an exceptional and differentiated home-buying experience from signup through buyback. Consumer spans three pillars: (1) the Divvy consumer experience, from signup through buyback of the home; (2) the product foundation to support tenant success (eg, payments, maintenance requests, communication with Divvy); and (3) data-science powered and proprietary underwriting algorithm that enables us to support more Americans on their path to homeownership.

The Operations team vision is to invest in technology that enables Divvy to better support our stakeholders (customers, agents, Divvy teammates, investors) throughout the homebuying lifecycle. Operations spans three pillars: (1) Internal Tools, used by our Divvy teammates to scale homes acquisitions, the customer tenant experience, and property management; (2) Offers, proprietary technology that allows us to extend a competitive offer in minutes while managing for portfolio health; (3) Platform, focused on the technical foundation required to scale our business.

Responsibilities:

Grow and manage a talented, diverse, inclusive team of product designers to help them validate and iterate on design solutions and ensure high quality implementation.
Drive collaboration and vision across teams to build alignment on priorities leading to product design and execution.
Oversee multiple projects and scale design resources accordingly, ensuring deadlines are met, your teams are effective, and team members are set up for success by setting clear and measurable goals.
Bring organization, clarity, and a new take on our processes to help remove ambiguity and other blockers while leaving enough flexibility to handle fast changes/pivots as necessary.
Lead with an eye toward encouraging personal and professional growth of your team members, fostering an inclusive environment, and collaborating in ways that help the team’s growth and productivity.
Set clear expectations and priorities for your teams, with frequent check ins, both in groups and 1:1s. Ensure that everyone is aligned and that individual team members have the opportunity to share their knowledge and learn from others, express their opinions, and have open communication with you about their performance and their career goals.
Partner closely with the VP of Design, VP of engineering and the CPO to identify long-term product opportunities.

What we are looking for:

8+ years combined experience in product/ux design focused roles
4+ years leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership, including actively participating in hiring and guiding your team members in their career development.
Deep design process experience, having actively participated in and led teams to complete full product design life cycles in a fast pace environment.
A focus on exceptional team culture, and the understanding of how to develop, leverage, and manage cross functional partnerships.
Communication: excellent communication and storytelling skills, in writing and in speaking
A body of work that demonstrates your team working cross-functionally in a very dynamic environment, highlighting your approach to problem solving as well as the solutions themselves.
Case studies should demonstrate your skills in user research, product design, and design management.
Experience growing a strategic design practice within design teams to help them be more effective, business minded designers.
