Senior Manager, Design Operations

We’re looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Design Operations team. Design Operations at Squarespace is embedded within our Product Design organization and amplifies the impact of design by allowing our designers to focus on the work. You will lead the orchestration and optimization of people, processes, and craft in order to amplify design’s value and impact at scale and implement processes to influence how we collaborate with matrixed teams to optimize design output. You’ll work cross functionally building relationships and collaborating with different teams to identify and manage appropriate design processes and tools to support the delivery of high-quality designs. You thrive in ambiguity, are a strategic thinker, skilled planner, negotiator, and a flexible person who can balance multiple projects in a creative and fast-paced design environment while applying frameworks and systems to keep track of the many moving parts necessary for projects and teams to be successful. 

You will report to the Senior Director of Operations, Product. We are open to this position being remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Continuously seek out ways to improve the processes, practice, and culture of the Design team.
• Collaborate closely with directors and senior designers to define, document, and operationalize processes.
• Partner with your Design Operations managers to develop plans for onboarding new designers.
• Identify team needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management, etc. 
• End-to-end management of design tools including strategy, tactical usage, identification of new tools, vetting of tools, on-boarding and off-boarding, and community engagement.
• Guide and document design feedback and identify opportunities to maximize design output.
• Maintain design program status and communicate across the product team.
• Coordinate discovery loops and usability studies in partnership with the Design Operations team.
• Determine need for freelance support based on current workload and forecast/availability, understanding impacts of freelance on departmental planning.
• Create and manage budgets for the Product Design organization.
• Coordinate with legal to secure licensing agreements with content providers.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of management experience
• 6+ years of experience as a digital producer or program manager with a background in product, digital, or tech
• Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, and collaborate with and influence teams across boundaries (cross-teams, cross-org)
• Experience working closely with designers and familiarity with research methods and product development
• Experience building programs from scratch and measuring their impact
• Ability to identify and address blockers with a solutions oriented approach
• Team-player mentality with a limitless determination to succeed and grow
