As an Internal Tech Writer on the Engineering Enablement team, you will help build programs that enable engineering employees with the skills, mindsets, practices and sense of community needed to build and deliver best-in-class software. Our team strives to build robust, scalable, and standardized programs focused on product and technology knowledge where everyone, regardless of their team or location, has an equitable experience and relevant enablement paths.

We are working to shift our culture around knowledge management and documentation for our engineers. You will work to develop a strategy to consolidate documentation, establish a more formal structure for our internal Confluence organization, naming of documents, formatting standards, etc. You’ll also partner with internal subject matter experts to write and manage documentation for core programs like engineering onboarding, enablement programs, as well as large scale product overviews.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

What you’ll do:

  • Build, manage, set the direction and promote an information architecture strategy within Datadog Engineering.
  • Set internal policies and best practices around knowledge management for Confluence, Stack Overflow and other tools used for writing and discovering technical information.
  • Define a vision for and develop engineer-facing documentation and training materials for Datadog’s internal architecture, software, and developer tools.
  • Partner with our engineering teams to create internal documentation throughout the application development life cycle and other internal engineering processes.

Who You Are:

  • You enjoy organizing information, making it easily accessible and learning about new technologies and languages.
  • You are conversant in modern infrastructure such as IaaS cloud services and containers.
  • You have written or managed server-side software and documentation.
  • Previous experience partnering with engineers and developers to design a robust technical training and documentation for this audience
  • You can partner with developers and other SMEs to create robust technical documentation for developers.
  • Working knowledge of StackOverflow and its uses for content management
  • Strong experience with Confluence as a documentation and content management tool
  • You have publicly available technical writing samples, i.e. documentation on engineering processes, tooling or architecture

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.
