Senior Design Program Manager, Cloud

Design Program Managers, part of our growing Creative Operations team, play a vital role in helping cross-functional teams at MongoDB “Build Together.” Each Design Program Manager impacts how their project teams work while also looking at design holistically to create positive experiences across the entire Product Design team. We’re searching for a Sr. Design Program Manager to partner with a team of talented product designers and design leaders focused on high-visibility, technical product areas. 

This role will be based in North America, either fully remote or in one of our North American offices.

What You’ll Do

• Develop strong partnerships with Design and other stakeholders 
• Elevate the Design team’s presence within the organization
• Build trust between Design, Product, and Engineering teams
• Coach Design leaders to help their teams deliver, while enabling design to shine 
• Lead with inclusivity, communicate with curiosity, and deliver with accountability 
• Mentor others within Creative Operations (and beyond)
• Develop process improvements for Creative Operations 
• Be the cross-functional catalyst representing the Design team, reinforcing and building cross-team processes
• Manage projects, workflows, and planning for Product Design teams 
• Facilitate design studios, design-focused stakeholder meetings, and internal team meetings 
• Manage Design Jira tickets to enable transparency and manage workloads
• Serve as the go-to point of contact for Design project status and priorities while removing roadblocks and tracking dependencies

What You’ll Bring

• Experience as a UX Producer, Design Program Manager, or other strategic design-mindset project/program/operations role with the ability to grasp technical products and understand how they work together (developer experience is a plus!)
• Strong knowledge of UX methodologies with the ability to speak confidently about design activities and workflows
• Excellent communication and storytelling skills
• Natural leadership and problem-solving skills with a coaching mindset; we’re not looking for project managers as much as human-centered design enablers
• Diplomatic negotiation style, with ability to work with all kinds of personalities
• Keen sense of when to follow a process and when process is getting in the way
• Proactive approach, pride of work, and passion for iterative workflow development
• Experience as part of a remote / distributed team

What To Expect

• In your first 30 days you’ll get settled: meet people, listen to challenges and determine a plan to begin solving problems and enhancing the teams you work with 
• In your first 90 days you’ll ramp up on design work: get intimately familiar with our workflows and make a plan for how to best support the team
• In about 6 months you’ll roll out new processes, templates, tools, and/or frameworks that measurably improve how design gets done
• In about 12 months you’ll automate key processes wherever possible, enhance workflows, and make significant progress toward interdepartment and cross-functional processes that ultimately improve our users’ experience
