Senior Design Lead - Spend Squad

How should global e-commerce work? How could staying on top of your finances be equally easy, wherever you are in the world? What does the future hold for the humble debit card? How do you support designers and teams to ship work they’re truly proud of?

These are just a few of the challenges a Senior Design Lead will get to work on as part of Wise’s global mission to build an open, fair, and human financial system. Because people without borders need money without borders.

Your mission: 

You’ll be leading designers of all crafts, working across the four cross-functional teams that make up the Spend Squad here at Wise. You’ll be helping to build the world’s best spending experience for millions of personal and business customers. Whether they’re in Lapland, Hong Kong, or eBay, super convenient and without the sneaky fees.

Here’s how you’ll be contributing

• Collaborating with your product and engineering partners to lead the Squad, set the vision, define strategy and coach the teams to deliver it
• You’ll be lead for all the designers in the squad. Directing their work, mentoring them and supporting them to grow
• Planning and prioritising the work, hiring and onboarding new designers as needed
• Working with Design leaders from other squads to build a single, seamless experience for customers
• Using your Design Leadership skills to level up quality, maturity and alignment across the Spend squad.

About you: 

• You’re an accomplished Design Leader with several years experience leading teams to ship world-class consumer products.
• You have a sharp eye for quality, and you know how to support designers and team to deliver it
• You’re influential and inspiring, able to lead others in a culture that values autonomy and empowerment
• You’re highly empathetic, both to customers and the people you work with
• You’re a trusted partner, building effective relationships with your peers across the business.
