What does Wayflyer do?
Wayflyer’s mission is to revolutionise the eCommerce space by supercharging online businesses and their founders across the world. We provide MCAs (Merchant Cash Advances) to eCommerce businesses to allow them to pay for inventory and marketing for a low-cost flat fee, which they repay to us through revenue-based financing. We also use data to provide founders with insights which empower them to make decisions that will help them acquire new customers, scale and unlock their store's full potential.
We’ve helped companies like
Wild,
Dock & Bay and
Branch take their businesses to the next level. Check out this
video from Davie Fogherty, another one of our brilliant customers, giving a great explanation of what we do and how we helped
The Oodie go from strength to strength.
Why Wayflyer?
- Since launching in April 2020, we’ve deployed over $550m in funding across 8 countries to 1000+ eCommerce founders. In 2021 alone, the amount of funding we deployed to customers grew by 900%.
- We
announced our Series B in February 2022 raising $150m in funding at $
1.6bn valuation; backed by world-leading VCs including Left Lane Capital and DST Global. This valuation helped us reach unicorn status making us one of only 6 in Ireland. In May 2022, we secured a $300m credit facility from J.P. Morgan. And in August, we locked in a $253million debt financing facility from Credit Suisse.
- 'The early team you build is the company you build'. We’re still in our early days so you'll play an integral part in defining the culture at Wayflyer.
- Careers at Wayflyer are truly cross functional. Regardless of your role at Wayflyer, you'll work with a variety of different disciplines and teams from around the world on a multitude of challenging projects and game-changing products to revolutionise the eCommerce landscape.
Research & Design at Wayflyer
At Wayflyer we know our customers expect remarkable customer experience and beautifully designed products and services, so we’re looking for senior design leaders to scale and build a world-class team. As part of the founding Research & Design senior leadership team you’ll define what your discipline does at Wayflyer and hire the team to do it. This is an opportunity to get in on the ground floor and to build the team you’ve always wanted to lead to define and shape how we work right from the beginning, and to help take Wayflyer to the next level. You’ll raise skills, set standards, and identify good practice to enable our teams to be fast and good.
You’ll report into our VP of Research & Design who reports directly to the CEO, so you and your team will have the ability to make a meaningful impact with work that is transforming eCommerce. Just as importantly, having design leadership right at the top of the business means you’ll never have to justify to the business the importance and value of great design because the business already gets it. You’ll spend your time doing research and design, not justifying why it needs to be done.
We’re building a team who care very deeply about building remarkable products, and also care about people and are invested in their growth and success, whether they’re part of Wayflyer, or the customers we work with. You’ll be able to be your best self at work, working with incredible people and doing great things.
What you will do
We’re looking for a Senior Brand Design Manager to build and run a fully-functional, creatively focused Studio. Your team will consist of designers and writers, where you will be responsible for how Wayflyer brings to life its visual and verbal brand across primarily our marketing and user experience. However, your oversight and leadership will influence every significant touch point inside and outside the company.
- Partner and align with stakeholders across Wayflyer to build a Brand Design team that delivers against objectives and goals. Taking care to shape a team that can execute effectively and efficiently.
- Hire experienced designers and copywriters who, alongside yourself, will set the standard for all the visual and verbal touch points across the Wayflyer brand.
- Coach and enable designers and writers to accelerate their careers on paths best suited to them - either managerial or technical.
- Lead the team by example - teach by doing, designing when required, balancing this with the understanding of where your priorities sit across multiple initiatives.
- Directly manage copywriters and develop an environment where our tone of voice and messaging carries an equal importance and impact as our visual expression.
- With your team, you will deliver marketing-focused creative that considers the strategy behind the design decisions made. This will be done while balancing both design integrity and the drive to ensure the creative is delivering against the goal.
- Direct creative centred around motion, video and sound. This could be working with a designer on quickly creating a quick turn-around social post through to a high-specification shoot, directing production companies.
- Partner directly with the Product Design team to ensure our brand is intentional and expressed and felt coherently as part of Wayflyer’s design language.
- Create a studio with proficient operational processes and procedures. You will develop these from the ground up, with empathy and consideration for how stakeholders will interact with them as much as how writers and designers will.
- Proactively identify opportunities where brand design can make the biggest impact, and how best to deploy organisation resources.
- Presenting work to stakeholders at all levels across the business, confidently talking-through ideas at any stage, and managing the process with it.
- Establish, build and maintain relationships with third-party creative agencies who may support your team or others in their objectives.
Your first 90 days
- Provide leadership and management for our two existing brand designers
- Work with marketing, brand, product and other stakeholders to create a plan to support their needs through hiring and agencies
