Float is the world’s leading software for teams to plan their time and, behind it, is a world-class team looking for a Product Designer to join us. From the USA to the UK, Canada to South Africa—our Engineering, Product, Marketing, Insights, and Customer Success teams work asynchronously, helping brands such as Airbnb, Buzzfeed, and Ogilvy plan and manage their time better. Float is self-funded, profitable, and growing. If you’re aligned with our values and are looking to join a team that’s passionate about helping others work and live more productively, we want to hear from you. Here are a few tips from our CEO to make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.

Why We’re Hiring For This Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer who is keen to take on complex problems and create solutions that feel simple that feel intuitive for our customers, reporting to the Design team yet working closely alongside Product and Marketing. This role would support the following areas:

  • Own product feature design from PM specs to engineering handoff and VQA
  • Own marketing projects on the roadmap from brief to handover and VQA
  • Contribute to the Float design language and alignment with product + marketing design styles and systems
  • Support the design team in with flexibility where needed

You’ll be working fully remotely and asynchronously with a bright, dedicated team from across the globe, with a strong focus on taking complex problems and creating solutions that feel simple and intuitive for our customers.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

The Product Designer will be responsible for driving assigned projects that belance between Product and Marketing from early idea validation and alignment to engineering handoff and VQA and evolving the Float design system and language across all touchpoints.

Early on, you’ll jump right into:

  • Working with Product to design assigned product features from spec across desktop and mobile with oversight
  • Work with Marketing to design product marketing projects (eg float.com pages and tooling)
  • Apply design system assets to projects
  • Design testable prototypes for research and evaluation

Once you are a bit more settled, we expect that you will jump into the following projects:

  • Work with Product to iterate on and influence the design and delivery processes at Float
  • Deliver polished design solutions to engineering and see-through VQA process right through to successful project launch
  • Maintain update and develop new Float Design System components and processes

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

We want you to love your work and believe that these skills will allow you to succeed in the role.

  • Product feature design experience with a solid balance of UX and visual design to work end-to-end from spec to wireframes to polished design (Figma-focused, but not a deal-breaker if sketch-focused)
  • High-quality visual design experience applied across Product and Marketing design outputs
  • Solid skills in prototyping and interaction design
  • Experience translating and delivering feature specs in collaboration with PM and research
  • Strong communication skills to effectively deliver design rationale, solutions and tradeoffs to the team
  • Motivated by feedback and thrives in the opportunity to learn new skills and advance in the role

As a fully remote team, we’re looking for someone comfortable with asynchronous communication as the default, which means you have previous remote experience and are comfortable using tools like Slack, Loom, and Asana to communicate as needed. Don’t worry—you will have significant deep work time since we have very few meetings.
