Product Researcher (Intern): Summer 2023- Seattle or US Remote

About the Role:

Remitly is increasingly focused on customers in emerging markets. We are looking for a researcher intern who can bring a unique skill set to the team that would help us make a significant advancement in our current effort to build a customer-centric multi-product ecosystem around our core remittance product. You will report to the leader of product research, joining the Consumer Insights team, a team of six multicultural researchers who work across multiple products and marketing. You will manage and conduct your own individual project end to end. The specifics of the project will be based on your level of experience, background, and relevant skills. You will gain valuable experience collaborating with others on their projects, including fellow researchers, product designers, product managers, and engineers.

You Will:

• Own a specific end-to-end project that helps Remitly to create a cohesive multi-product customer experience, particularly focused on those living in specific emerging markets
• Create outputs that allow for scale (e.g., behavioral personas, customer journey maps, new recruitment systems and strategies, etc)
• Provide consultation on and direction to product designers for usability and prototype tests when needed
• Educate and inform others at Remitly about your project and what you learn along the way in conversations and large-group presentations
• Contribute to team-wide research projects spanning product, business, and marketing

You Have:

• Experience with primary data collection through mixed methods (interviews, prototype tests, observations, surveys, etc.)
• Ability to collaborate and communicate with non-researchers, construed broadly
• Native or professional proficiency in English and another language – including data collection and analysis entirely in that other language. We are especially interested in Spanish, Tagalog, Hindi (or other major languages in India), and Portuguese
• Experience in cross-cultural or international research
• Post-graduate degree in social sciences (e.g., anthropology, sociology), human–computer interaction, or human-centered design and engineering. This degree may still be in progress (with good academic standing)
• Curiosity about Remitly and its values, Remitly's products, and above all, Remitly's customer base of first-generation immigrants and emerging market customers
