Scale is a collection of fairly distinct products across four teams: Shipping, Tax, Markets, and Buyer Trust. What unites us is that the value we create for merchants is related in the following ways: (1) Our products help merchants scale their businesses; (2) Our products become more important as merchants scale; (3) We use Shopify’s scale to create products no one else can. 

As the Product Operations Lead for Scale, you will get to do things like:

  • Build systems for constant alignment, accountability and feedback for the Scale team
  • Provide visibility and alignment on Scale team strategy and prioritization
  • Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders to improve efficiency, effectiveness and escalate areas of opportunities/risks to Product Leadership, all while building communication bridges between executives and hands on teams building our products
  • Develop a deep understanding of how teams work and what’s in their way, to solve bottlenecks, streamline communication, and help us focus and move faster to make merchants successful.
  • Collaborate with frontline teams, Data and UX Research to disseminate insights leading to data-informed product development, and ensuring the right people are involved in critical decisions early, regardless of the team they’re on
  • Structure and solve complex and ambiguous business issues for teams within Scale
  • Lead and coach Product Operations Managers

Here’s what you can expect as a Product Operations Lead:

In your first 30 days, you will complete the Shopify technical training and onboarding program and develop relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders within Scale and across the organization. 

In your first six months, you will develop a firm handle on the operating rhythm of each team within Scale, and help the Scale leadership team drive important decisions and initiatives. 

Qualifications

  • Experience successfully leading complex operational and strategic initiatives for senior stakeholders
  • Entrepreneurial mindset to deliver impact in ambiguous environments 
  • Ability to go deep on problems and communicate credibly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience of problem-solving and analytical skills, including modeling and presentation skills
  • Experience in designing minimum viable process, think in systems while rolling up their sleeves to get things done
  • Strong ability to prioritize and juggle multiple priorities, proven at getting things done in a fast-paced dynamic & growing environment.
