Product Manager, Terminal Device Ecosystem, Android Platform

Stripe Terminal helps our users extend their online presence to the physical world. The Terminal team’s mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments as the Stripe API has done for online payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in-person payments use cases that are right for their business model—whether it’s creating a superb retail experience, extending their website to a pop-up store, or enabling a mobile point-of-sale at their next event. 

We’re looking for an experienced product manager to lead and shape the future of our Terminal Android Platform - the platform for both first and third-party application developers to write and distribute applications onto Stripe’s growing fleet of android payment devices. You will set the multi-year growth strategy for expansion to new user segments and work directly with cross-functional teams to make that vision a reality. In this role, you will work with a spectrum of users, from our largest platforms to small start ups as well as external technology partners to deeply understand user needs and market trends. You will obsess over developer experience and build the vision for how we leverage the platform to create new distribution channels and a robust ecosystem. Working closely with your engineering partners you will design, build and launch capabilities that delight users and differentiate Stripe’s solutions in the market.

You will:

• et a motivating multi-year vision and then break it down into measurable, meaningful milestones for the Terminal Android Platform team. This includes creating buy-in, crafting roadmaps and OKRs, and navigating trade-offs.
• Partner with software and hardware engineers and cross functional partners to research, discover, and deeply understand what internal and external developers need to unlock value for Android application development.
• Build empathy with our end users and the differentiation they aim to deliver for their merchants.
• Deeply research and understand the competitive landscape and translate that understanding into differentiating features for your product suite.
• Use metrics to inform your point of view and leverage analytics to measure success
• Define product requirements, assist in synthesizing into development sequencing and participate in sprint planning rituals to deliver against those requirements and the overall roadmap
• Leverage your technical knowledge and experience to help your team make technical trade off decisions. 

We’re looking for someone who has:

• 8+ years of product management experience or equivalent
• Demonstrated success and strong execution track record in building and sustaining scalable platform products
• Great interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication. You can collaborate and thrive in productive, healthy debate done with mutual respect and shared goals. You can make complex concepts accessible with clear communication
• Experience working on products with developer interfaces (App deployment, APIs, SDKs); hardware or hardware-related product experience a plus
• Technically adept systems thinker, ideally with a Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience working as a software engineer
