Working at Atlassian

Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.

With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we are able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further.

As a product manager focused on Atlassian’s internal engineering effectiveness, you will lead the development of a new internal product that centralizes engineering best practices across the company. Our goal is to help Atlassian engineering teams ship better services, faster. You will work with engineers across Atlassian to create best in class SaaS industry practices.
Your team’s work on engineering effectiveness will reach most of Atlassian’s engineering teams, improve the Atlassian customer experience, and increase trust in the Atlassian brand. You will have opportunities to leverage existing platforms and help build the roadmap of several Atlassian teams to meet these goals.

More about you
You love delivering outstanding products and capabilities for customers. You have prior success setting product vision and strategy and launching excellent features & products. You can set clear goals, make decisions, and communicate crisply to your team, to leaders across Atlassian, and to our customers & partners. You can map an organisation’s strategy directly to a team’s roadmap, and clearly ladder their results back into that strategy. You’re motivated by deeply understanding our end-users' frustrations, and relish the challenge of translating deep technical challenges into business and customer value propositions.
You’ve got charisma in spades: you’re social and adept at building relationships across product lines and functional groups to make sure everyone is aligned.

Ideally you will have previous experience working closely with data analysts and scientists to dive deep into data and identify trends and insights to help our engineering teams improve unified practices.Previous experience in cloud platform or infrastructure environments is a plus.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Solid experience as a Product Manager at a SaaS company, ideally working on platform infrastructure
  • True obsession for your customers – you go out of your way to talk to customers and understand their problems because it’s what gets you out of bed in the morning
  • Good instincts matched with deep analytical thinking. You're comfortable defining and driving key business and success metrics
  • A passion for wading into the complicated day-to-day decisions to help your engineering team ship impactful capabilities
  • A track record of building relationships and influencing without authority at all levels of the organisation

It's great, but not required, if you have:

  • Previous experience in data, either as a data analyst or leading a team of data scientists and data engineers
  • Familiarity with distributed systems and microservice architectures
  • Computer science or a related technical degree, or prior experience as a software engineer
  • Experience in driving engineering culture across the organisation
