Upwork ($UPWK) is the world’s work marketplace. We help connect companies large and small with top independent talent from around the world. Simply put, our mission is to create economic opportunities so people have better lives.

Every year, more than $2 billion of work is done through Upwork by skilled independent professionals who want the freedom of working anytime, anywhere

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Talent Scout Team! Launched in May 2021, companies use Talent Scout to fill roles on their teams by working with a recruiter who understands the client’s hiring and project goals and sources from Upwork’s vetted talent pool.

You will lead significant initiatives to establish product-market fit and drive rapid growth to unlock a large market opportunity for Upwork! You will work with an established team of developers, designers, marketers and operation teams on scaling our marketplace through both product experiences and operational workflows that delight our clients. You will use customer insights and data to build a product roadmap and work hands-on with cross-functional teams to ship, test and synthesize quickly.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Be a key player in driving the roadmap to establish product-market fit and drive the growth of Talent Scout
  • Build innovative and new ways for Upwork’s Talent, Recruiters and Clients to start a relationship by collaborating with engineering, design and operations teams
  • Always start with data to understand drivers of client success. Test and measure everything, analyze the results, evaluate critical metrics and use them to drive decision-making about what's next
  • Help support enablement of operational and go-to-market teams
  • Address long-standing and difficult user problems by breaking down fundamental assumptions and going back to the basics

What it takes to catch our eye:

  • A proven track record as a product manager in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
  • Experience working with two-sided or three-sided marketplaces, especially marketplaces with diverse participants or ‘human in the loop’ systems
  • Experience with building a roadmap, breaking it into experiments for testing hypotheses
  • Passion for building high quality end-to-end client experiences that include product, marketing and operational touchpoints
  • Demonstrate deep appreciation for customer needs, frustrations, and aspirations. Familiarity with understanding non-obvious customer needs and scope them to a workable solution
  • Flexibility to adapt to high growth, early-stage environments
  • Ability to build a sense of belonging for distributed teams.

Come change how the world works.

At Upwork, you’ll shape talent solutions for how the world works today. We are a remote-first organization working together to create exciting remote work opportunities for a global community of professionals.  While we have physical offices in San Francisco and Chicago, currently we also support hiring of corporate full-time employees in 15 states in the United States. Please speak with a member of our recruitment team to determine whether you are located in a state in which we are hiring corporate full-time employees.

Our vibrant culture is built on shared values and our mission to create economic opportunities so that people have better lives. We foster amazing teams, put our community first, and have a bias toward action. We encourage everyone to bring their whole selves to work and grow together through development opportunities, mentorship, and employee resource groups. Oh yeah, we’ve also got amazing benefits.
