Stripe’s mission is to grow the GDP of the internet. Often, this is through abstracting complex and frustrating tasks to make them simple, so that Stripe users can focus on growing their businesses.
Collecting and filing sales & indirect taxes is a classic area for technology disruption. Companies selling across countries, states, and even smaller jurisdictions have to navigate through a myriad of tax rates, product-level tax exemptions, filing requirements, and registration obligations. The rules are constantly changing, and not accurately calculating and filing tax can have legal ramifications.
It’s no surprise then that solving for tax compliance is a top user ask. We launched Stripe Tax as a new SaaS product in 2021 to help solve this pain point and make tax compliance as effortless as possible. It’s still early days, and we’re looking for strong product managers to help shape our product and build our business.
About the role:
- As the Product Manager on Stripe Tax Platform, you’ll drive product and go-to-market strategy on core product features. While we’ve had an enthusiastic response from users since launching in 2021, there are still many 0->1 opportunities to expand our product offering, get to product-market fit, and then reach scale.
- Our ideal product manager has deep user empathy and strong product vision; they are persistent in creating a product experience that not only satisfies but delights their user. They have thoughtful opinions on what great looks like in API product design. They are known to make things happen quickly, and are influential across product teams.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- 5+ years of product management experience on user-facing products, including 0→1 products from idea to launch
- Experience shipping API products or a technical background
- Exceptional product sense and user empathy. You deeply understand a products’ users and their problems, and design uncommonly great solutions to solve them. You have a knack for simplifying complex domain spaces
- A demonstrated ability to influence other product and cross-functional teams
- Persistence and a whatever-it-takes approach to ensure that your product is successful
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems
