Product Manager, Square Banking- Checking

Square builds common business tools in unconventional ways so more people can start, run, and grow their businesses. When Square started, it was difficult and expensive (or just plain impossible) for some businesses to take credit cards. Square made credit card payments possible for all by turning a mobile phone into a credit card reader. Since then Square has been building an entire business toolkit of both hardware and software products including Square Loans, Square Terminal, Square Payroll, and more. The Square Banking team builds tools that allow millions of small businesses around the globe to better manage their cash flow. The legacy financial system relies on long-standing and often-unfair conventions like outdated fees and onerous applications. We are building better business banking by seamlessly integrating payments and banking in one place, without the frustrations and hassles of incumbent banks.

As Product Manager for Square Checking, you will help small businesses instantly access their revenue so that they can store, move, and manage their money easily. You will build new banking features from scratch, and solve age-old cash flow problems in innovative and delightful ways (e.g., What does overdraft protection look like that truly has your back? How can businesses deposit cash without physical bank branches?). 

You will set the high level strategy for an early phase product, and accelerate the next phase of growth for the business. This is a high impact, high visibility role with enormous growth potential within Square.

You will:

• Lead product strategy for a complex and high growth product
• Own and define the product roadmap based on a deep understanding of user needs, quantitative data, and industry trends
• Build new and innovative features that make people choose Square as their preferred bank of choice
• Seek continuous improvement, conduct experiments, and make informed decisions without ego
• Manage products with autonomy throughout their lifecycle, from ideation to planning, execution, and launch 
• Work cross functionally across engineering, design, marketing, data science, finance, and many others across a globally distributed team
• Ship high impact features that are used and loved by millions of people around the world

• 4+ years of experience in product management
• Collaborative: you work well with partners across the entire company to achieve strategic results
• Customer-centric: you have customer empathy and experience shaping product direction based on customer needs
• Analytical: you are data driven and use your quantitative skills to make product decisions
• Results-oriented: you have a bias toward action and are comfortable driving projects forward through ambiguity
• FinTech experience a plus
