Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.

Discord is about giving people the power to create space to find belonging in their lives. We want to make it easier for you to talk regularly with the people you care about. We want you to build genuine relationships with your friends and communities close to home or around the world. Original, reliable, playful, and relatable. These are the values that connect our users and our employees at Discord.

As the Product Manager for Safety Platform, you'll drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Discord's safety systems. This team is the glue that holds our safety features together. They build the infrastructure that powers everything from detection layers to policy enforcement systems to user-facing features — and beyond. Keeping users safe is crucial for Discord's growth, and Safety Platform provides the foundation for this vital work. We're seeking an impact-driven, hands-on Product Manager to steer this team. This role reports to the Director of Product for Trust.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Drive the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our Safety Platform team
  • Cultivate deep empathy with internal customers. Build relationships with cross-functional partners within Safety and across the company. Understand their needs thoroughly and develop strategies to scale our safety systems effectively throughout the organization
  • Define and own performance against key business metrics and proactively report progress against those goals to the relevant stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional execution to deliver incremental value with 8-10 Engineers, Design, Data Science, ML, Legal, Policy, and Operations
  • Independently make decisions for your product area, gain buy-in from leadership, and act as a momentum catalyst for your execution team
  • Balance day-to-day execution with long-term product vision — you must be comfortable moving quickly to respond to the moving target of abuse on Discord

What You Should Have

  • 3+ years product management experience or experience building and shipping great software, including responsibilities driving prioritization, trade-offs, and timelines
  • Proven track record of shipping products from design to deployment
  • Confidence to dive into the technical details and challenge designs or solutions with Platform Engineers and Machine Learning stakeholders
  • Comfort in solving complex, systems-problems
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work very well cross-functionally

Bonus Points

  • Previous work in spam, anti-abuse, or trust & safety domain
  • Previous work on platform or infrastructure teams
  • Passionate about building solutions for internal customers
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical experience
