Product Manager, Risk Tools

Removing barriers to online commerce is at the heart of Stripe’s mission, and doing so requires effectively and efficiently protecting the businesses that trust Stripe at scale. Although risk management often implies a tradeoff between the user experience and user friction, Stripe refutes that paradigm. Instead, we focus on creating products, programs, and policies that simultaneously improve the user experience and drive growth, while systematically mitigating risks for Stripe’s business and partners.

You will be focused on building out a tooling platform to enable Stripes to effectively manage risk across our diverse user base. Stripe deploys an array of machine learning models and sophisticated signals-monitoring systems to protect ourselves and our users, but our final line of defense is always our risk analysts.  Your work will make these work in concert and directly impact Stripe’s bottom line, building a safer financial backbone for the internet.

You will:

• Define and build a risk tools platform that empowers Product and Operations teams at Stripe to build a world class risk management experience
• Rigorously measure outcomes that drive bottom line impact to Stripe’s business
• Collaborate closely with engineering, design, data science, and operations
• Help us scale our offerings to an increasing variety of new products in a way that they can move quickly

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Shipped and operated mission-critical infrastructure
• An obsession with product quality and an eye for design, specifically an intuition for good user flows and user experiences
• The ability to turn incomplete, conflicting, or ambiguous inputs into solid action plans
• A desire to work closely with users, gather feedback, and understand their problems
• Experience leading products that require coordination of many stakeholders and cross functional teams
• Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to ship. Preferred but optional: Experience with or interest in labeling for machine learning
