Xero is a beautiful, easy-to-use platform that helps small businesses and their accounting and bookkeeping advisors grow and thrive.

At Xero, our purpose is to make life better for people in small business, their advisors, and communities around the world. This purpose sits at the centre of everything we do. We support our people to do the best work of their lives so that they can help small businesses succeed through better tools, information and connections. Because when they succeed they make a difference, and when millions of small businesses are making a difference, the world is a more beautiful place.

As part of the Reporting team, you’ll be joining an area of the product that numerous roads lead to. Many parts of Xero are about getting data in (reconciling, accounting, balancing) and reporting is where these paths meet, which is why we are the third most used part of Xero. We create beautiful reports that are easy to use with valuable insights customers trust.  We also enable other product areas to leverage the reporting platform to support their customer journeys.

How you’ll make and Impact

As a Senior Product Manager, you will be responsible for Reporting vision and product strategy across several Xero initiatives; app modernisation, unified customer experience and expansion and market fit for the Northern Hemisphere. You will lead, coach and mentor a talented team of Product Owners. Your skillful leadership will enable them, and the engineering pods, to deliver compelling products and services that solve real problems for our customers, in turn creating value for Xero.

What you'll do?

- Set and communicate a compelling product vision that your Product Owners and wider team pursue with zeal
- Lead with strong strategic thinking and decision making. You’ll synthesise a vast range of qualitative and quantitative inputs, as well as others’ expertise across domains (including Engineering, Design, Data, Go to Market, senior leadership) to make decisions to best position your group, and Xero, for enduring success
- You’ll establish strong relationships with your stakeholders and update them appropriately on product vision, strategy, releases and roadmaps
- You’ll lead and drive an integrated Engineering-Product focus where technology excellence is at the heart of your decision-making. You will understand both technical and business challenges and modern Engineering practice.
- You’ll coach your Product Owners in modern product discovery practices — enabling them and their engineering pods to understand and use experimental techniques
- You’ll ensure Product Owners are effectively supported. They will understand their personal career path and are encouraged to work towards it
- You’ll empower your Product Owners and their engineering pods to make decisions when fast, decentralised decision-making is appropriate to reduce delays, make improvements, enable faster feedback and more innovative solutions
- Most importantly, you’ll cultivate a fun, rewarding, innovative and outcome-focussed culture that lives and breathes Xero values.

What you'll bring with you?

- Proven experience championing strategic priorities and helping others relate to and align with it
- Proven experience setting product vision and strategy in an outcome-centric environment
- Proven experience prioritising against multiple strategic priorities and complex needs. The use of decision making models and written form to share the factors used in the decision and outline recommended strategic direction
- An extensive toolbox of modern product discovery practices to draw upon
- Proven experience coaching Product Owners, and leading & building high-performing product teams
- Proven experience using a range of metrics to monitor the success and health of products and services
- Proven experience connecting teams closer with customers (and not just be a proxy for them)
- Deep understanding of modern technologies and their application to solving customer needs/opportunities
- Proven experience working with innovative software development projects at scale
