Join the team as our next Product Manager - Programmable Video

Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a globally anti-racist, anti-oppressive, anti-bias company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business. We employ thousands of Twilions worldwide, and we're looking for more builders, creators, and visionaries to help fuel our growth momentum.

About the job

This position is needed to lead initiatives to provide our customers with the APIs, SDKs, and toolkit they need to build, launch, and operate innovative Video applications, at scale.

As a Programmable Video team, we strive to enable meaningful conversations and to power the next generation of Video communication. We do this by providing an exceptional developer experience with programmability at every level, high-quality global infrastructure that is cost-competitive, and differentiated media processing capabilities. We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and hands-on product leader to define the vision and drive execution of the Twilio Video product development. This is a high-impact, high-velocity role in the exciting video space.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Own and drive execution on the long-term product vision for Twilio Video. Be an advocate and champion for the needs of developers who are building, operating, and scaling their applications using Twilio Video. Represent your product roadmap and business metrics to Twilio’s executives, customers, and product teams across the company.
  • Spend time with customers to identify problems and gaps in the customer experience. Deeply understand the customer journey, from onboarding through launching and scaling rapidly.
  • Prioritize your backlog to ensure you are always delivering the highest value features. Manage project plans for on-time development and release. Ensure that engineering is working on the right things at the right time.
  • Craft the E2E customer experience by iterating on API specifications, creating UI mocks, writing copy, and doing whatever it takes to communicate your ideas and build the right solutions for our customer's problems. Work closely with engineers and cross-functional teams to evolve existing services and define new ones.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication - ensure that complex ideas, thoughts, and vision can be communicated simply and effectively. Deliver product requirement documents, developer-facing documentation, and marketing materials.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • You have 5+ years experience as a Product Manager for a technology company.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. You can tailor your message based on the audience.
  • You have experience shipping products in a fast-paced environment; overcoming obstacles and delivering customer value.
  • You have experience leading cross-functional teams and know how to get the best out of your team
  • You are data-driven with strong analytical skills.
  • Desire and ability to work on a technical developer product.
  • You have experience writing code - for fun, college, or work. We are looking for someone with a technical bent to communicate with our engineers and engineering management, as well as our large developer base.
  • You have worked with Enterprise customers in the past and understand what it takes to deliver an enterprise-grade solution.

Desired:

  • Experience with media communication technologies; such as real-time audio and video, WebRTC, and media transport protocols.
  • Experience building products for developers; such as DevTools for building, testing, monitoring, and/or troubleshooting applications.
