Mission

Help Databricks “scale in the enterprise” by giving enterprise admins visibility to ensure the workloads are running optimally and users are acting in accordance with the budgets and policies of the organization.

Outcomes

  • Develop a deep understanding of admin’s workflows to understand, troubleshoot and optimize their workloads on Databricks, from the dimensions of billing and budgeting, compliance and performance. 
  • Within 90 days formulate an enterprise roadmap (data driven) to address the observability needs for Administrators.  
  • In 120 days customers Admins have visibility into cost management across their organization. By H2 they have deeper insights around costs, like cost attribution, cost justification and trends easily.
  • In 180 days customer Admins have visibility into all events in the system. Customers have the means to access and automate alerts in real time with tools of their choice.
  • In 1 year customer Admins have access to the performance metrics of underlying infrastructure with tools of their choice. Admins can take infrastructure optimization decisions based on the performance data available to them.
  • The Databricks Platform becomes increasingly self-service.



Responsibilities

  1. Inbound PM for Observability hat worn by customer Admins
    • Customer convos, write PRDs, define success metrics, prioritize features, guide engineering and design work.
    • Influence roadmap, positioning, and pricing for your features
  2. Outbound PM for Observability persona
    • Ship features (early adopter program, release planning, marketing)
    • Work with PMMs on product/feature launches: blog posts, release notes, webinars
    • Measure impact: track and report usage
  3. Collect & summarize usage data/dashboards for decision making and OKR tracking
  4. Own cross-functional interactions for your features (across eng/marketing/field/sales)

Required Competencies

  • Full lifecycle product management. Concept to market success.  Includes inbound, outbound, cross-functional product management.
  • Experience with administrator, sysadmin, devops user personas. 
  • Detailed understanding of infrastructure providers such as AWS, Azure.
  • Data analysis and operationalization skills (SQL, rollups, building operational dashboards)
  • Excellent written communication. Ability to convey ideas simply and influence people.



Nice-to-have Competencies

  1. Experience working with Administration capabilities for Enterprise grade products and services, e.g. ServiceNow, New Relic, Splunk, AppDynamics.
  2. Experience with monitoring tools like Ganglia, Graphana, InfluxDB, etc.
  3. Experience working with native admin observability services in cloud platforms - AWS, Azure, GCP. E.g. Azure Monitor, AWS CloudTrail and CloudWatch, GCP Audit Logs.
  4. Software or other engineering background
  5. Experience working with Apache Spark, ETL, or data warehousing product
