Company Description

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a business that is big, meaningful, and lasting. And we are helping sellers around the world do the same.

Job Description

Square's Payment Platform is an open, global financial services platform for developers who serve our sellers. It provides the necessary components to manage identity, process payments across multiple channels, hold and transfer funds, and provide accounting, reconciliation, and reporting in a secure and compliant way.

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Trusted Identity group. We're responsible for ensuring that we know who our sellers are, and that we are able to keep up to date with them as their businesses change and grow. Customers rely on our team to keep track of the sensitive details of their business, to manage who can make changes, and to make it painless to stay within the bounds of the law regardless of how their business evolves.

The Payment Onboarding team owns the front door to accepting payments with Square and builds the Know Your Customer (KYC) and activation flows for Square’s business expansion plans, while optimizing existing flows to ensure Sellers have a seamless onboarding experience. In 2021, this team launched onboarding flows across multiple jurisdictions and types of businesses.

As the product manager for Payment Onboarding, you will lead the direction of your product by setting vision/strategy and partnering with the engineering managers of your sprint teams to drive execution. In this role you will champion the voice of our sellers and developers to deliver a reliable, scalable, and delightful onboarding experience for Sellers.

You Will:

  • Run your product like a business: manage the entire product life cycle from ideation, to planning and execution
  • Focus the team on the most impactful projects by understanding the jobs to be done, synthesizing those needs into your product roadmap, and defining key metrics
  • Manage expectations by communicating progress to stakeholders and partners
  • Align for large cross-team projects by driving your team's annual planning process.
  • Ensure the health of your product by balancing new features with maintenance and technical debt.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of product management experience or equivalent
  • Passion for our purpose of economic empowerment and innovation on behalf ofour sellers and developers
  • An analytical and metrics driven work style that leverages data to make informed decisions
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills that shine when you’re talking with a customer or engaging a cross-functional audience
  • Natural curiosity, obsession with the details, desire to build the right thing
