This product manager role sits within the Operations product team and is accountable for ensuring newly acquired e-commerce brands transition smoothly to the OpenStore ecosystem. Acquiring one brand is challenging but nowhere near as complex as many at the same time.
We need to design and implement a variety of tools that enable small business owners to sell their business seamlessly - from diligence to closing and ultimately transitioning the business to OpenStore. Traditionally, this process takes 6 months and is in desperate need of reimagining. In parallel, we need to design a variety of new internal tools that enable our team to acquire new businesses every week and operate them effectively.
We're just getting started. We are seeking a product manager Operations product team to bring this vision to life. This is a unique opportunity to come in at the ground level and define a world-class experience in a fast growing space. We will invest in your development and do everything we can to make sure this is one of your best professional experiences. We believe joining OpenStore will be a career-defining choice for employees.
WHO YOU ARE
- Your technical know-how helps unlock scalable solutions. Your experience will enable you to focus on the elements that matter most and drive clear insights that inform the team’s priorities. You're able to break complex problems into solvable component parts and effectively communicate what drives the most impact.
- You are analytically rigorous. You have a deep bias towards using data and analyses to drive decisions. You crisply define metrics and counter-metrics and use them to expedite execution.
- You take pride in your strong sense of ownership. Your ability to execute and eliminate blockers helps you and the entire company move fast with confidence. You know when to raise your hand and ask for help.
- You communicate and collaborate effectively. You know how to deliver the right message to the relevant audience at the appropriate level of detail. You co-create solutions that are better than the sum of individuals’ ideas. You embrace intellectual friction as a feature of improvement, not a relationship bug.
- You love to learn. You continually explore ways to improve your skills and knowledge through taking on new challenges and experiences.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design acquisition workflows: merchants, suppliers, agencies, and other types of users engage with OpenStore during the acquisition process. Collecting and sharing relevant information, signing contracts, processing payments and many other processes must be designed and streamlined. These complex processes should be reimagined to be as simple and elegant as using a consumer app.
- Automate internal processes: upon receiving information from these partners, OpenStore must validate it as well as catalog it for future reference during operations. The more these processes can be automated, less manual effort will be required and higher quality of data will be received for operating successfully.
- Account transfers: merchants often have tens of apps and accounts that are used to run their storefronts. These need to be transitioned to OpenStore cleanly and at scale.
- Partner with Diligence, Closing, and Merchant Integrations team: work closely with the absorption team to identify additional areas to progressively automate the process with tools and/or the engineering team.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- 3-5 years of product management experience and ideally 2+ years of e-commerce or marketplace experience
- Previous experience building consumer web apps and streamlining operationally complex processes
- Highly analytical and even better is fluency in SQL, Python and data visualization tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a track record of working closely with a range of cross functional team members to influence and deliver results
- High growth technology company experience is a plus
- Shopify merchant tools experience is a plus
