What We Do

The Maps Product team uses our customer focus, business acumen, and technical chops to push the boundaries of what’s possible with interactive maps and how people use location technologies in their daily lives.

We build and offer web mapping services that are highly interactive maps to static snapshots. Their performance, real-time styling, and interactivity features set the bar for anyone building fast and immersive web maps. It is engineered to render even the most detailed, feature-dense maps at 60 FPS on both desktop and mobile devices.

What You'll Do

We are looking for a curious and data driven Product Manager II to join the Maps Product team at Mapbox. These services are relied upon by thousands of our customers to seamlessly handle billions of requests every day, scale in real-time to global events, and enable designers, developers, and analysts to make and share maps we’ve never dreamed of. 

As a Product Manager II for our web mapping experiences, you will partner with a passionate group of globally distributed engineers, a variety of customers and internal stakeholders like Sales, Marketing, and Finance to make customers wildly successful in pursuit of outsized business growth. You will own and drive the vision, roadmap, pricing, and go to market for your services. You are a product leader who is comfortable using data to inform decisions, demonstrates customer empathy, and has solid instincts.

What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role

  • 4+ years as a Product Manager: You have seen multiple products through a full lifecycle of discovery, development, launch, and adoption in the B2B space. 
  • Customer focus: You care deeply about your customers and their problems, and you work tirelessly to innovate on their behalf.
  • An analytical approach: You have strong SQL skills and use data to properly evaluate the success or failure of features and drive key learnings.
  • Prioritization: You have clear rationale behind the tradeoffs you make and strive to deliver immediate/tangible value to customers.
  • Collaboration: You crisply articulate context and rationale that helps bring along a wide range of stakeholders across engineering, sales, design, marketing, legal, etc. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication: You can talk and write about complex ideas concisely to a wide audience (e.g. FAQs and business cases for your roadmap). 
  • Curiosity: You sought and uncovered new market opportunities for your products. 
  • GTM: You have taken your product to market and worked through pricing and packaging.
  • Nice-to-haves: Experience in the mapping domain and managing API products.
