About the Role: 

As a Product Manager for Hyperspectral Imagery at Planet, you will be responsible for overseeing product development and setting product strategy for our new hyperspectral data products. Planet’s Tanager mission is approaching launch, and you will oversee the development of our Hyperspectral Offering to ensure that the raw data from our satellites turn into valuable and actionable products for end users in commercial, government and non-profit domains. You will define the product roadmap in alignment with overall company strategy and engage early adopters and prospective customers to understand needs and set product requirements to meet them. You will work very closely with Product, Sales, Marketing, Science and Software Engineering teams at Planet. 

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Oversee the development of our hyperspectral products as we prepare for and execute launch, including working closely with the engineering team and our strategic partners on the product build-out
  • Engage early access program customers to obtain product feedback and understand value propositions to customers
  • Collaborate with Customer Platform Product teams to ensure customers can task, order, and access our products
  • Build and maintain the Product Roadmap for our Hyperspectral Offering, including capturing and prioritizing product requirements from multiple sources: customers, users, Sales, Engineering, Customer Success, Tech Support, etc.
  • Work closely with Sales and Product Marketing to clearly articulate value of the hyperspectral derived products for targeted markets
  • Work with strategic partners in the government, scientific and philanthropic communities to source feedback and input, coordinate cross-partner efforts, and ensure products are meeting established requirements

What You Bring:

  • 5+ years as a power-user of satellite imagery, remote sensing and GIS, preferably with experience using hyperspectral imagery
  • Experience in an industry where advanced sensing could be applied such as defense, atmospheric sciences, agriculture, energy, environmental conservation or geology 
  • A solid understanding of the benefits and challenges of processing and analyzing EO data 
  • Proven capacity for delighting customers
  • Experience working in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Outstanding executive communication (speaking and writing), interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing attention to detail

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $109,800 - $180,000.  Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location.  The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only.  Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
