Role overview

The product management team is responsible for defining and delivering on a vision, ensuring that user needs are addressed and business goals are achieved.

This product manager role sits inside our Professional team, offering an exciting opportunity to define and deliver a new advanced research tool for B2B users.

Specifically, this role sits inside our Content Analytics group, which focuses on building capabilities to extract relevant information and insights from FT content and deliver these to users in the optimal way to meet their specific user needs. The product manager in this role will lead discovery, validation, delivery and go to market for a new product that uses our Content Analytics capabilities to enable B2B users to carry out advanced research using the FTs information.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • You’ll lead a 0-1 hypothesis-driven lean product validation process and collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team.
  • You’ll bring clarity and structure to abstract problems and solve problems creatively by thinking critically from first principles.
  • You’ll have an understanding of how to apply AI and analytical techniques to real world problems and have a deep understanding of the value drivers of data and analytical products.
  • You’ll lead the development of simple UX solutions to complex analytical functionality and have a keen eye for detail.
  • You’ll clearly communicate the vision and value proposition of your product to stakeholders and users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owning a stream of work end-to-end including defining the problem, setting up goals and metrics, and leading product execution
  • Working in a cross functional team and leading its direction without authority
  • Working with stakeholders to define, champion and deliver a product vision and roadmap
  • Communicating product vision, roadmap, progress and achievements to the wider team and to stakeholders
  • Running a lean product development process and ensuring it follows ‘best practices’
  • Working with user research to conduct customer research and extract insights
  • Working with design and engineering to find and build solutions to problems
  • Working with marketing and sales to bring a new product to market
  • Maintaining and updating product backlogs and prioritising work
  • Tracking and analysing competitors


Essential experience

  • A proven track record in a product management role (2 years +)
  • Experience taking a customer-centric and hypothesis-led approach to product development informed by user research and business objectives
  • Experience working on AI, analytical or data products
  • Experience working with a cross-functional team to deliver on product outcomes
  • Experience working within an Agile and SCRUM environment
  • Experience building a product roadmap, defining product requirements and prioritising a backlog
  • A track record of being proactive, outcome driven and intellectually curious, with a demonstrable ability to identify opportunities and communicate their value proposition and business benefits
  • Ability to communicate clearly, including writing and presenting documents targeted at various audiences, and giving presentations to small/large groups
  • Ability to work independently, but with regular manager support and collaboration
  • Ability to balance workloads and priorities throughout the product lifecycle

Desirable experience

  • Experience bringing a new product from ideation through to market and then successfully monetising the product, especially in the AI, analytics or data products space
