Who We Are

Ellevest is a fast-growing, venture-backed financial services start-up built by women, for women. Our mission is to get more money in the hands of women, no matter where they’re starting or how far they’ve come. We started by building the only gender-aware online investing platform that takes totally un-ignorable realities (like pay gaps, different salary curves, and women’s longer lifespans) into account. Then we added financial planning services for Ellevest clients, plus a full-service private wealth management service that helps high net worth people, families, and institutions align their financial power with their values.

Ellevest was co-founded by Wall Street veteran Sallie Krawcheck after she realized that the financial services industry was built by men, for men, systemically leaving women behind. During her Wall Street days, she served as CEO of Smith Barney, CEO of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, and CFO of Citi. Ellevest has raised $145 million from investors including Rethink Impact, Pivotal Ventures, Valerie Jarrett, Salesforce Ventures, PayPal Ventures, MasterCard, Khosla Ventures, Morningstar, and Venus Williams.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Ellevest is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company. Data shows that diverse teams are more innovative, make better decisions, and lead to greater employee engagement. When hiring, we look for culture add, not culture fit. That means hiring people who bring new perspectives and different experiences to our team. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

About This Position

As a Product Manager, you will play a key role in delivering features and experiences that drive client acquisition by attracting, onboarding, and retaining clients. You have a passion for product management, analytics, and delighting the user throughout their entire experience. In this role, you will support products from the initial discovery phase through the final delivery phase, always with a client-first mentality. This role is well-suited for a Product Manager who can make sense of complexity and ambiguity, is curious and comfortable with data, and is a leader who is motivated by ambitious growth goals.

We follow agile methodologies where you will work closely with engineering, design, data, and marketing to build impactful web and mobile experiences. You are a strong leader, strategic thinker, and excellent communicator. Being able to proactively communicate your vision and strategy to your team in a clear and concise way is a must. You are a team player and you’re energized by working with others.

Day-to-day you will:

  • Develop a roadmap for Ellevest’s product experience that creates a seamless onboarding experience for users, meets the team’s KPIs, and overall business goals and objectives
  • Exercise product ownership: write and prioritize user stories; groom product backlog, triage and prioritize; coordinate with cross-functional teams; define scope of development for new product features and feature enhancements
  • Work collaboratively with Design, Engineering, Marketing and others to prioritize features and ship products (from idea, research, design, development, launch, and iteration)
  • Build and maintain a relationship with the Client Experience (CX) team, as they are first in line for understanding and interacting with our end users
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (including fellow product managers) on new product launches to ensure the cohesiveness of the overall user experience
  • Apply a curious, analytical mindset in order to make data driven decisions
  • Conduct research to assess opportunities and risks; cultivate a strong understanding of our target clientele
  • Track progress, assess risk and trade offs, coordinate delivery, and actively communicate contingency plans for the team
  • Communicate across the organization regarding the status of projects in development, as well as post-launch results

We’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of product management experience in a startup environment
  • A proven track record of launching successful products and delivering features that drive growth and customer acquisition
  • Experience working closely with partners across design, engineering, marketing, etc and building strong relationships with cross-functional partners
  • Ability to empathize with users and find ways to delight them throughout the entire experience
  • A curious and data-driven mindset with eagerness to make an impact
  • A keen ability to understand and articulate priorities and make trade offs or reprioritize when necessary
  • A strong commitment to company values and the Ellevest mission

Ellevest's compensation framework is based on relevant data, benchmarking and research for comparable companies and on our internal pay equity policies. The prospective annual salary range for this role is $142,000-$162,000. In addition to base salary, Ellevest compensation offering for full-time employees will also include the following benefits: equity, 401k plan with employer contribution, medical, dental and vision health insurance (80% of premiums covered by employer), unlimited paid time off and flexible scheduling, paid parental leave, learning and development opportunities, financial support for accessing reproductive healthcare, free access to an Ellevest account and discounts on Private Wealth Management offering. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including (but not limited to) the applicant's experience, skills, certifications, as well as internal equity among our team.
