We are looking for a skilled Product Manager to join our close-knit and amazingly talented product team. The ideal candidate is a smart and deliberate decision-maker, with a passion for creating superior products. They can get things done and can drive the development of technically complex projects from vision to successful launch, and know how to negotiate a win-win scenario with key stakeholders while balancing common resource and timeline pressures. As a Product Manager, you will utilize deep customer empathy, strategic thinking, analytical prowess, team leadership and technical competency skills to deliver delightful and differentiated customer experiences that drive growth.

 Top Hat has recently acquired Aktiv Learning, and we're undertaking the process of merging Aktiv systems and products into the overall Top Hat umbrella. In this role, you will help drive the roadmap for key aspects of the integration of the Aktiv platform within Top Hat. The purpose if this integration is to increase student engagement and improve student outcomes in STEM courses. This is a key piece for Top Hat’s mission to empower educators to engage students and unleash their potential, and to ultimately work towards our vision of transforming the way professors create, curate and deliver content. 

A few examples of projects that we will need your help leading include:

  • Supporting our engineering team in integrating the Aktiv systems and products into the TopHat’s product umbrella, through SSO and content deep-linking
  • Enhancing the key feature requests in our Assessments domain, enabling the instructors to best assess their students within Top Hat through homework assignments and exams 

As a key member of our product team you will:

  • Lead the product roadmap for the projects you will be in charge of
  • Work very closely with Engineering management to define and execute on the roadmap
  • Work with the different Product & Engineering teams to understand the vision of every different product offering
  •  Create meaningful signals and use them to inform your decisions, the progress of your projects, and the success (or failures) of your initiatives
  • Work with the development team to write user stories, as well as manage sprint work
  • Utilize data analytics to inform your decisions
  • Communicate new releases to internal customers

About you:

  • 3+ years experience as a product manager
  • Prior experience in the education technology sector
  • Deep empathy towards customers
  • Exceptional communication skills, with an ability to persuade and galvanize others behind the product and your vision
  • An analytical, meticulous, detail-obsessed mindset, with an unending desire to continue learning
  • You develop strong opinions about your products but can easily switch course when data or qualitative research tell you otherwise
  • Belief in data-driven design and ability to work with various analytics platforms to help inform and validate design decisions 
  • Autonomous, able to take your own initiative 
  • Experience working with JIRA, Amplitude, Looker, SQL, and Salesforce
  • A Technical background so you can effectively communicate with engineers is nice to have
  • Experience with integrations or API’s is a nice to have
  • Experience working in an agile dev environment is a nice to have
