About the role
The Product Manager - Developer Platform provides strategic and commercial oversight across Xero’s third party developer experience; public API, developer tooling and next generation platform initiatives. We are building the tools and exposing the API functionality necessary for third parties to build innovation solutions on Xero’s platform.
This role will be at the forefront of building the next generation of a platform developers love, constantly striving to lower barriers to innovation, building the hard things so that developers don’t have to. There is a big opportunity to change the game in this space, double down on our platform strategy so that Xero can achieve its growth aspirations. What you’ll do
- Have a clear understanding of Xero’s strategic priorities and how the portfolio of products / platforms / services in your stewardship align and contribute to it. Be a strong, pragmatic and articulate advocate for the required investment to make the vision of that contribution a reality.
- Create a culture of customer centricity and drive innovation within the Ecosystem product teams
- Create connections and collaborate closely across the Strategy, Product, Technology and Customer teams, championing the role of Xero’s ecosystem in Xero’s broader strategy and supporting others in achieving their goals
- Create a backlog of lean product propositions and deliver solutions that solve Xero app developers’ needs in innovative ways
- Provide oversight across the global Ecosystem Developer Platform & Experience teams to ensure the right things are built at the right time. You will do this by leading and growing a team of great Product people, working with them to form and execute on robust product strategies and roadmaps.
- Be accountable for the ongoing operational and commercial success of the capabilities you co-create and/or are responsible for.
- Cultivate a safe, fun, rewarding, agile and results-driven culture that lives and breathes our Xero values
- Work with the GM Product - Developer Platform to identify and remediate projects and programmes at risk.
What you’ll bring with you
- 5+ years in product management using human-centred design tools and methodologies.
- Previous experience leading teams.
- Experience designing and building technical platforms.
- Experience managing large programmes of work across global teams.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with a diverse stakeholder group to realise commercial outcomes.
- Solid track record of addressing customer needs through innovative use of technology.
- Proven ability to successfully motivate individuals and teams.
- Proven ability to influence outcomes at all levels in a variety of contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in defining product roadmaps and long term planning.
- Experience in APIs, platforms and building capabilities at scale is advantageous
