Product Manager, Developer Experience

More than half of Americans have a poor credit score or no score at all. Since most financial institutions rely on traditional credit scoring to assess risk, that means these people can't access affordable financial products. Instead, they resort to high-interest credit cards, payday loans, and trigger overdraft fees to make ends meet — which ultimately push them into deeper cycles of debt. 

Pinwheel provides an API platform that makes it easy to connect payroll accounts like ADP and Gusto to any app. By unlocking the wealth of identity, income and employment data that sits in these systems, alongside direct access to paychecks, we can help innovators build the next generation of financial products that increase access for the underserved while improving the businesses of our partner fintechs, banks, and lenders.

Who are we looking for?

Ensuring that our developers are successful is mission-critical for us. Without them, we lose access to the people that we are ultimately trying to help. We're looking for a strong Product Manager to own this domain, partnering closely with our Director of Product and other internal stakeholders to make Pinwheel the best payroll connectivity platform to build on top of. This person would be in a pivotal role, helping shape the future of the company and the customers that we are trying to serve.

What will you be doing?

• Become a champion for our developers. Deeply understand their problems and what they need to be successful. Represent the voice of the Developer in internal conversations, and translate their needs into a best-in-class experience that fulfills them
• Develop a strategy and roadmap aimed at making Pinwheel the best platform to build on top of
• Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for any Developer-centric features and capabilities - everything from tooling, reporting, documentation, permissioning, to the fundamental infrastructure that onboards new customers
• Partner with key internal stakeholders, from Engineering to Commercial to Marketing, to bring new products to market

What experience, skills, and qualifications are necessary?

• 5+ years experience building and scaling software products (Previous experience working on APIs or another developer-centric product heavily preferred, but not required) 
• a passion for getting into the nitty gritty of complex systems, and a desire to make them simple
• an ability to partner closely with sales, design, and engineering teams to balance tradeoffs, translate requirements, and ultimately, to deliver products that solve customer problems
• a demonstrable track record of being scrappy, and finding creative solutions to tough, and oftentimes ambiguous problems
• a passion for fintech
