Product Manager, Customer Data Platform

The Automation organization enables and measures the unified customer journey, intelligently empowering customers through Square's ecosystem of products. The Customer Data Platform (CDP) team is essential within the Automation organization and Square. The team is building a state-of-the-art in-house CDP for collecting, unifying, and connecting customer data with applications. The team develops products and capabilities (e.g., for personalization, segmentation) that allow partners to integrate easily with CDP and help them use customer data to build industry-leading products. The CDP team has made an enormous impact on Square's data ecosystem and leads the way to transform Square into a data company.

As an Associate Product Manager for the Customer Data Platform team, you will lead important product roadmaps from ideation to delivery. You will partner with an accomplished engineering team to ensure that our products meet customer requirements and accelerate Square's growth. Your customers consist of teams across a majority of Square products. You will need experience building data products to determine areas of opportunity to grow the CDP product. You will need a product mindset, great execution, and excellent partner management to solve the most complex user needs. You will learn from Square product leaders who will support your growth in product management.

​​​​​​​You will: 

• Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and technical due diligence to determine new areas to grow the CDP product.
• Conduct interviews to determine customer needs and product requirements
• Set the roadmap and direction for core areas of the CDP product.
• Lead planning, backlog grooming, and prioritization of features to achieve the product vision
• Represent the team with partners and senior company leaders to align resources and prioritization
• Educate teams and promote Square adoption of CDP
• Foster an environment that enables the CDP engineering team to build quickly while maintaining a high standard for quality

You have: 

• Product sense: You have experience shaping product direction and execution based on customer needs. You can empathize with customers and envision solutions to solve their pain points.
• Passion: You are excited to build customer-focused data products.
• Technical: You have knowledge of modern data architecture and best practices. You have experience developing, testing, and deploying APIs and web applications that use external platforms, cloud services, and APIs.
• Collaborative: You have experience working directly with other teams, customers, and vendors.
• Communicative: You can write and present with brevity and clarity.
• Creative: You can break down open-ended and ambiguous problems.
• Experience: 1+ years in product management or software development.
