As Product Manager, you will drive the strategy and direction of the Government Filing domain. You will be responsible for ensuring that employers across all of our key markets can set up and manage their filing requirements and meet these obligations, correctly and with confidence. This is a newly established team that will comprise of experienced members previously from the Xero Payroll organisation and new hires. 

Government Filing is a critical part of being an employing business. Government and regulatory bodies across the world are increasingly requiring employers to file more comprehensive and timely financial information digitally. Meeting these requirements is a core obligation employers have in managing their staff. 

The core of your role will be to lead a discovery and framing process to set boundaries and priorities while establishing a healthy product development team to define and ship outcomes that solve real problems for our employing small business customers.

In addition to development and management of Xero functionality, this role will own partnerships and integrations with retirement service providers as relevant in each region. 

What are we looking for in the Government Filing Product Manager role?

- Strong demonstrable experience in a software Product Management role 
- Proven product practice leadership skills
- Experience with problem discovery and solution framing activities
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Customer centric attitude
- Inclusive attitude and experience working closely with design and engineering teams
- Proven experience shipping digital products
- Experience with cloud and/or SaaS products

Experience with a global product and experience in a lean startup environment would also be advantageous.

What you’ll do?

- Understanding customer problems; you will be the champion of the ‘what’ and the ‘why’ and deliver value through defining, driving and executing a product roadmap aligned with the Xero Me and company vision
- Conduct research initiatives with stakeholders and end-users, then synthesise insights into actionable next steps and decisions
- Bridge business goals, user needs and feasibility as you help design and ship product
- Support with yearly, quarterly, and sprint prioritisation processes
- Confidently run a room as small as three members to large workshops, while drawing out all the voices by facilitating the right activities to get to the right information
- Get into details to ensure successful execution while understanding the strategic level impact of the work
- Effectively communicate hard technical challenges, and comfortable collaborating on complex technical product decisions with engineers
- Leadership on our product development teams. You’ll take an active involvement in planning and growth. Act as an ambassador for your team and the product while working closely with key stakeholders ranging from strategy, product marketing, data and research teams
- Aligning and collaborating across teams/portfolios to deliver at speed to meet tight timeframes
