Product Manager, Checkout

About us

At Swell, you'll be joining a team of talented, resilient, and empathetic people based all over the globe. We are 100% remote and value the flexibility that this provides. Momentum and progress are important to us, so we encourage asynchronous work to further empower each team member to make the best use of their time. As we grow we are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, thrive in ambiguity, see challenges as opportunities, and aren't afraid to share their voices about how we can make ecommerce better for everyone.

Role Description

About you

As a Product Manager, Checkout at Swell, you're eager to rebuild the ecommerce stack for the next generation of experience-driven brands. You're driven to collaborate on our roadmap to develop deep integrations with premium software platforms that our merchants need to have for doing business. Partners will include platforms in email marketing, payments, shipping, and much more.

You are thorough, analytical when solving problems, and have the ability to observe and think critically. As part of the Swell team, you're a flexible team player who can communicate effectively especially as it relates to working closely with our leadership team and the platform's Integrations Manager.

If this sounds like you, keep reading.

What you'll do

  • Manage and drive Swell's checkout pipeline. This will be pivotal to help solidify Swell as the go-to headless ecommerce platform.
  • Be responsible for building and managing checkout that our customers need.
  • Work closely with leadership and with the platform's Integrations Manager to identify and prioritize integrations accordingly.
  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for the storefront checkout.
  • Write detailed product specs to be delivered to Engineering.
  • Deeply understand our users and their jobs-to-be-done.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, design and community to learn about our users and how we can further add value to their experience with the platform.
  • Create or improve the process to streamline checkout development.
  • Empower your team by providing context, setting direction, and building alignment.
  • Drive customer-driven decisions, clear prioritization, and efficient execution in the face of ambiguity and complexity.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with Leadership, our go-to-market teams, and other key stakeholders across the company.
  • Build processes that will scale as our team and company grow.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of Product Management experience.
  • Experience working in ecommerce or SaaS companies.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership, taking initiative, and delivering results.
  • Strong product sense with opinions on design.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a talent for precise articulations of customer problems.
  • Creative product thinker who loves collaborating and can lead product development with Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Experience managing technical software products from kick-off to ship.
  • A proactive person to make your product and team successful whether that means writing a QA plan or hunting down the root cause of a user’s frustration.
  • A good sense of humor and a team player.

Bonus points if you possess the following:

  • You’ve ever started or run a business before or been part of an early stage start-up.
  • Built APIs, products, and complex systems at scale.
