Product Manager, Cards Cost / Cost Modeling

Location: San Francisco, Seattle, New York

Stripe seeks to increase the GDP of the internet.  Delivering the best offering for processing credit, debit, and prepaid cards is critical to this mission, given the central role card payments play in internet commerce. The Cards team at Stripe is responsible for the infrastructure, user facing features, and business of accepting credit, debit, and pre-paid card payments. 

We are hiring a product manager to drive critical efforts related to payment costs and monetization of Stripe’s cards processing offering. Stripe has a top company-wide goal to solidify our cost infrastructure.    Specifically, this person will drive the Cards Cost team’s work against this company-wide goal by improving

the ML modeling accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of our cost data infrastructure to be able to meet the high bar of a fast-growing company.  If you are looking for a way to build reliability and scale into the core DNA of Stripe, this is the role for you.

This is a high leverage role at the heart of Stripe’s overall business. This PM will partner with Engineering to deliver the associated product and infrastructure for these efforts, which are both critical to Stripe’s margins and our merchants who care deeply about payment costs. This individual will also partner with Stripe Finance leadership to drive Stripe Payments’ bottom line via product and engineering levers. 

You will:

• Collaborate with Engineering on developing the ML models and infrastructure needed for timely, accurate billing and reporting

• Partner with Finance to deeply understand the margins and drivers of Stripe’s core business, and how Cost can help the business run better

• Drive cross-organizational alignment around our defining our success and meeting the high bar for our goals as a company

We’re looking for someone who has:

• Product experience: 5+ years of relevant experience
• Operational savvy: You are strong operationally, capable of designing and driving a cross-functional team and process.
• Analytical horsepower: You dig deep into the data, think from first principles, and deliver the right results
• Strong technical acumen: You enjoy digging into the details of how technical systems work at scale, identifying how to make them better
• Crisp communicator: High attention to detail including precise and effective communications, including with external customers/partners
• Results-oriented: You enjoy doing whatever it takes to execute on complex projects

Nice to haves:

• Experience in management consulting or finance
• Experience with SQL or a willingness/aptitude to learn
• Experience building internal systems at large scale
• Experience with building ML-based products
