Product Manager, Business Reporting

As a financial institution moving billions of pounds of customer money in more than 70 countries, Wise must have bulletproof financials. We need timely, accurate and scalable data to be compliant with regulations and to help the business make decisions based on comprehensive and insightful financial information. 

We’re looking for a Product manager with combined Financial reporting and Data analysis skills to join our Business reporting team in London. Your main task will be to coordinate reporting implementation projects by collating requirements from finance data users, developing the process design, and translating it into actionable plans for data analysts and engineering team. Your role is to link the technical team that has skills to build the solution, with the business-oriented team that has a vision of the end result.

Your mission:

• Identify the scope of improvement projects in the reporting and business intelligence areas (example projects: automation of reporting; improving availability of the data; implementing consolidation and reporting platform, etc.);
• Specify the requirements for the projects by collating feedback and wish list from data users;
• Develop the design of the solutions based on the business requirements and translate it into the technical specification for engineers and data analysts;
• Facilitate the two-way communication between analysts team maintaining the finance data, and the teams relying on it; find ideas for new data insights, help to optimise and improve the BI processes;
• Help improve the reporting and BI function and make data more reliable, controlled and accessible.

About you:

Experience and skills required:

• Experience in financial reporting, BI, financial controlling, or data analysis; strong understanding of the basic accounting concepts, and core reporting deliverables.
• Experience driving transformation projects, e.g. implementation of new accounting or reporting platforms, development of reporting solutions in-house, building and optimisation of the BI processes, etc.
• You have a strong understanding of the requirements for the financial reporting system from the user side (i.e. what accounting, management reporting or FPnA teams need), but you can also conceptualise the technical implementation and explain it to the analysts or engineers.
• Intermediate level in SQL, experience working with databases and big data.
• Strong coordination skills, ability to hold teams accountable for meeting deadlines and delivering high quality outputs.
• Ability to work independently, assume responsibility and make your own judgment. Be prepared to take ownership over complex new areas and solve problems with no or very limited guidance.
