As a Product Manager at Bowery, you’ll be responsible for creating and executing digital and physical strategies that support our vision of building and operating a network of smart indoor farms. This is a once-in-a-career opportunity to revolutionize a multi-millennium-old institution and tackle some of the toughest challenges facing our planet – water scarcity, food security, and pesticide use among them.

You’ll steer our Operations, Software, Robotics, Automation, Hardware, and Data teams to bring priorities to life. You’ll dig deeply to understand root causes and recommend solutions. Your planning cycles will be continuous, and represent the evolving needs of Bowery’s dynamic business as well as your stakeholders. You’ll play a key role in helping Bowery scale from a local community of farms to a technology-powered network that operates and optimizes autonomously.

The Product Manager role will support Bowery’s operational and commercial goals across existing and future farms. In this role, you’ll define solutions that assist supply planners and plant managers in achieving their production targets and continuously improving. This includes expanding the BoweryOS, our proprietary technology platform that manages our farms, to automate operational decisions; developing data products that help us orchestrate and adapt workload; and supporting innovation that enables our farms to reach more retailers (and their customers!).

This is a hybrid role. While we offer flexibility to work from home during the week, you’ll also be expected to join us at our headquarters in NYC part-time, as well as occasionally visit our farms in Baltimore, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey to get to know your end users and product opportunity space.

We encourage you to apply even if this is your first time launching robotics, IoT, and smart farming solutions (for most of us, this is true!) but you are excited about the space and the opportunity to implement creative decision-making.

What You'll Do

  • Define digital and physical solutions that help us achieve our goals around farm efficiency and operational consistency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, particularly in Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Product Marketing, to identify and scope roadmap priorities
  • Work with engineering teams – including Operations, Software, Infrastructure, Robotics, and Data – to execute priorities flawlessly
  • Define success metrics for your solutions, track them closely, and leverage them in your recommendations for future iteration
  • Anticipate how your solutions should evolve as Bowery rapidly increases its velocity around launching new farms

Who You Are

  • You make decisions based on data and solve root causes instead of treating symptoms
  • You demonstrate user empathy
  • You view assumptions and constraints as inspiration, not roadblocks
  • You drive successful outcomes with teams, regardless of functional area or level
  • You make decisions for your product area, versus relying on consensus
  • You distinguish what’s urgent from what’s not
  • You execute the product development lifecycle efficiently and flawlessly
  • You’re transparent about successes and disappointments
  • You have a keen product intuition and an eye towards system design and thinking, with a strong desire to build systems that scale
  • You have experience managing complex products and are excited to innovate with technologies you haven’t worked with before

Benefits as Good as Our Greens

  • To support you and your family, we offer health, dental, and vision insurance; mental health resources; family forming support; long-term and short-term disability insurance; FSA; HSA and commuter benefits
  • Company stock options so that you can reap the benefits of every Bowery win
  • 401k Program
  • The more balance, the better. We offer unlimited paid vacation, paid holiday - plus 16 weeks of paid parental leave so you can focus on what matters most
  • From internal mobility to a mentorship program and curated L&D initiatives, we are fully invested in your growth

Bowery is an equal opportunity employer - a place that celebrates unique backgrounds, qualities, and cultures that will enrich the workplace. We are attempting to redefine what a sustainable agricultural supply chain can look like. We cannot achieve this mission without a team that reflects the diversity of people who want fresh, locally grown food in regard to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, national origin, religion, family status, disability, military status, and experience. We strongly encourage people from marginalized communities to apply to join our team.
