Who we are
Hey, we’re Playbook. We’re making it easier to build wealth. By combining tax optimizations and automation, our financial system makes building wealth straight-forward and achievable for more people.
Today, we’re a small and productive team with a strong background in consumer products across Credit Karma, Gusto, Juul, Opendoor, and Microsoft.
Playbook is funded and backed by Atomic VC. Other Atomic companies include 'Hims & Hers', 'Homebound', 'Bungalow' and many others. If you don’t see a lot about us online, that’s because we’re still in stealth mode (for now!).

Who You Are

  • You thrive in a startup environment.  You’re scrappy and adventurous. You leverage all resources at your disposal (not just the obvious ones). You appreciate the fast pace and ever-changing nature of startups. You’re absurdly persistent and you take pride in doing more with less.
  • You’re a proud co-owner. You have a sense of urgency — not the frantic kind, but the quick and deliberate kind. You know how to separate what must be done well now and what can be improved later. You take initiative to make the team more efficient.
  • You’re curious and think BIG. You like to think about how things "work". When you don't understand, you keep digging until you understand it. When you don't know, you say you don't know. When you're wrong, you say you're wrong and that’s A-okay.
  • You’re a light. You have infectious enthusiasm. You speak up and share your thoughts, and create a safe space for others to do the same. You’re comfortable showing vulnerability, and listening when others do too. You love celebrating big wins.
  • You put the team first. You’re reliable and fully invested in the task at hand. You’re patient and flexible with teammates. You know that your best work happens when you’re happy, healthy, and rested. You prioritize wellness and vacations, and encourage your teammates to do the same.
  • You’re a straight shooter. You over-invest in communication but do it to understand, not to convince people you’re right. You’re open to suggestions and criticism. You use approachable language, not jargon. You’re open and honest, and you trust others do the same.
  • You see the big picture. You care about doing the right thing. You value diversity and go out of your way to ensure others feel welcome. You enjoy hanging out with your teammates, are low-ego, and make the workplace more fun for everyone.

Your Strengths

  • 5+ years of Product Management in a high-growth consumer company.
  • Execution You’re a master of execution.  You successfully spec, ship, test and iterate product to make it better.  You organize teams towards a shared goal with shared accountability while still owning the outcome.
  • Problem Solving You define the important problems to solve. You can figure out solutions to solve them.  You know success metrics keep you honest on if you’re making progress.
  • Customer empathy You love talking with customers.  You’re able to empathize and get to the root cause of their pain points.  You’re able to define customer problem and make improvements to product.
  • Product Strategy You’re able to deftly move from big picture company strategy to the specific tactics we need to implement over the next 8 sprints.
  • Product Design You can define customer problem and make improvements to product.  You’re able to partner effectively with design/content and eng teams to get ideas from inception to launch.

What You'll Do

  • You’ll build Playbook. Our product changes every day. The PRD you write today will be implemented within the week, and gathering user feedback the very same week. We’re constantly building and shipping innovative financial tools and functions. Your thoughtfulness around Product craft will be the foundation of the Playbook product, helping millions of users reach financial freedom.
  • You’ll contribute in all areas. You might choose to go deep in one aspect of the product, but like your teammates you’ll make a habit of working across the stack, frequently picking up new skills and expertise as needed.
  • You’ll shape the future. You won’t just build the product, you’ll shape the strategy behind it. You’ll watch new users walk through your work, and talk with them about better solutions. Every day, you’ll strategize alongside the founder and other talented engineers to craft a better, more streamlined experience.
  • You’ll learn about company-building. From fundraising, to recruiting, to negotiating contracts for analytics tools, you’ll have exposure to all aspects of growing and running an early stage startup. Along the way, you’ll get connected with mentors and advisors who can help you for the rest of your career. You will get to use your own product (and talk with others while they are using it) every day, and have significant input into its development. Your ideas will always be heard.
  • You’ll make a difference. It’s not every day you get to change the future of personal finance. Except at Playbook, it actually is. Your work will be the reason people live fuller lives, reach their life goals, become financially free, and realize their dreams for themselves and their families.
Join The Team!
As an early member of the team, you’ll play a huge role in shaping our culture, our product, and the future of Playbook. Every day, you’ll collaborate, solve complex problems, learn more about the fintech space, and watch your work make an immediate impact (on the company and our users!).
We want this to be the best work experience of your life, so we’ll pay you well, offer great benefits, invest deeply in your growth, and welcome you with a pair of unironic lavender Crocs.
If you think you might be a good fit for our team, we’d love to hear from you.
