Sana is looking for a Product Designer to join our growing team. You will work with our Product and Engineering teams to support our collective mission – to make quality healthcare understandable, accessible, and affordable. You will have design ownership of several product features and play a crucial supporting role in carrying out larger product initiatives. Whether designing new digital user experiences, or creating iterative improvements to existing features, you will have a direct impact on our users, internal teammates, and company as a whole. In a complex industry like health insurance, great product design is one of the things that sets us apart from our competition. What you will do
- Design experiences that allow our customers to manage employee benefits more effectively
- Design experiences that allow our members to more easily and effectively navigate their healthcare
- Create UX improvements to our internal system, helping the Sana team navigate and use data more efficiently
- Design everything from the highest level user flows for a new feature, all the way down to the nitty-gritty error states and everything in between.
- Contribute to our growing design system
- Run usability tests and user interviews to further understand our members, synthesizing data insights so that anyone on the team can easily gain perspective based on your efforts
- Collaborate with Product Managers to define problems and solutions
- Collaborate with Engineers to implement and test your designs
- Collaborate with other designers to build better solutions and maintain a cohesive user experience
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to build solutions that help them achieve their goals

- Become a strong internal partner who is able to demonstrate the strategic value that design brings to the rest of the company
- This is a design position- coding experience is not required
About you
- You have experience working within the product design process and have an understanding of the general framework needed to get from requirements to launch, including research and problem discovery to detailed interaction and visual design. You’re also willing to work outside of a perfectly defined process when needed.
- You have 3+ years working as a product designer in a digital space
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and enjoy helping surface and define problems, not simply designing solutions.
- You have been a part of a team that has successfully shipped multiple digital products
- You have a proven UX skill set – you know the fundamentals and require light oversight to keep a project moving in the right direction.
- You have a design system-centered approach to building experiences. You love creating modular and smart interfaces that reduce complexity.
- You’re comfortable with multi-step user flows and understand how to simplify and incorporate actions within the ecosystem of an existing digital experience
- You have experience helping to shape process improvements including team rituals and design processes.
- You are empathetic to the core and will consider all aspects of the user experience from multiple points of view.
- You have a strong understanding and commitment to accessibility
- You approach each new problem with curiosity
- You have experience in a professional work environment and know how to effectively navigate that space as a true partner
- You excel at both verbal and written communication and can present your ideas clearly
- You’re experienced working with design and task management apps and prototyping tools (we’re currently using Figma and Asana) and open to new technologies that help support a collaborative remote environment
- You’re collaborative, communicative, resourceful, curious, and comfortable with an iterative design process in a remote environment
- You’re excited to help build something totally new and motivated by making a real, positive change to a stagnant industry
