🔭 Our vision

Rooser is on a mission to reduce the amount of waste from seafood that is caught and harvested from our oceans. Founded by industry experts, we come from a world that still uses the fax machine, along with WhatsApp, email and phone calls to trade over 130 commodity seafood products on a daily basis and in real-time.

Our solution is simple: become the largest facilitator in the seafood industry, connecting both buyers and sellers through our sales and stock management tools and online marketplace. Achieving this will mean seafood commodity information will be transparently communicated for the first time ever, and with seafood flowing more efficiently through the supply chain, there will be increased shelf life and therefore less waste.

With backing from Index Ventures (Etsy, Farfetch and Just Eat), Google Ventures (Uber, Stripe, StockX) and Point Nine Capital (Zendesk, DeliveryHero, Revolut), we’re not alone in believing in this vision.

👤 The role

We’re now at a stage where we’re scaling fast and want to continue to develop an amazing product that delivers value to everyone who touches it. Therefore we are now hiring for a Designer, with expertise in UX and UI design, to come and join our Product Engineering team.

You will be responsible for far more than just putting together designs, by working alongside other Designers, Engineers and Product Managers to understand, plan and implement solutions to our user’s problems as effectively as possible.

💪 What will you be doing?

• Being close to our users, understanding their needs and building with a customer centric approach
• Collaborating actively with the rest of Product team on building the necessary design solutions - from rough wireframes through to full prototypes
• Contributing to the product flywheel and marketplace dynamics through design
• Iterating on and extending our simple and clear design system with an eye on cross-platform experience
• Working with external content designers and researchers if needed
• Championing, and educating the rest of the business on, the value of good design
• Working from our Edinburgh office every two weeks

🛠️ What you need to bring

• Proven experience of designing and improving digital interfaces
• An approach of user experience over pixel perfection
• A solid understanding of design systems and how they can scale
• Experience on marketplace dynamics and how to build for and around them
• Insights on how to improve search and discover experiences
• Know the way around user and field research methodologies
• Familiarity with web-based design tools such as Figma

👌 What does the ideal profile look like?

• You’ve “been there, done that” and have 2-5 years of experience in Product Design at 1-3 software companies previously
• You’re familiar with the challenges and opportunities specific to SaaS and marketplace products
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across disciplines
• Passionate and driven to make a difference
• Honest and humble, this is no place for big egos
• A proven expert in your field but constantly looking to improve yourself
• Speaks fluent English
