We are a non-profit that builds digital products aimed at mass incarceration. Our goal is to safely reduce prison populations across the US and create healthier communities by improving outcomes for people affected by the criminal justice system.
A product designer at Recidiviz is someone who is able to dive into complicated systemic problems. They will imagine, craft, and ship products. At Recidiviz, we explore how seemingly simple interactions and interventions can have a meaningful impact on criminal justice outcomes. You won’t need a background in criminal justice, just as we wouldn't expect practitioners to be experts in design thinking and behavioral nudging.
As a small non-profit, it is important for us to measure twice and cut once. The essential qualifications below are very specific to our current need: a product designer with a strong sense for visual and interaction design.
Designers at Recidiviz collaborate across a diverse team and leverage user research to inform new ways to nudge user behavior. They are passionate about their work and can thrive in a highly collaborative environment. The ideal candidate will be able to distill complex workflows and information into simple and intuitive interfaces.
Lasting change is always built on diversity. Recidiviz is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace, committed to equal employment regardless of race, color, sexual orientation, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or veteran status.
The United States incarcerates more people than any country in the world. Across the country, policies exist to help improve outcomes, but without the data in the hands of ground-level decision makers, they can’t reach their intended impact.
Recidiviz is building a common, open-source, technical infrastructure to help the criminal justice system achieve better outcomes (both for the public and those within the system). With the right tools we can surface earned releases for those incarcerated, prevent avoidable admissions, and reduce disparities.
Since February 2019, we’ve grown into an exceptional team of software engineers, data scientists, product designers and domain experts. To date, our team has partnered with eleven states, representing over 25% of the nation’s incarcerated population. For more about us, check out:
