Commsor is looking for a Product Designer to help drive our product vision, strategy, and execution while helping our customers understand their communities and innovate new and interesting ways to use this information to drive growth. This role provides an opportunity to build a product that will have a significant impact as communities are more instrumental than ever in developing brands and businesses that are customer-centric. The OS team is focused on helping our customers get the most value out of our Community Led Growth platform by making it easy for them to get various data into Commsor from different sources, analyze that data, and drive engagement.
Albeit small, Commsor is a fast-paced and innovative team. We rapidly test ideas to keep users’ wants, pain points, and preferences front of mind during every phase of our process. We’re focused on building intuitive, accessible products that customers feel more invested in using.
We have big plans and a big vision, and need a passionate Product Designer that loves to build and innovate to help us take our product to the next level!
LOCATION
We're a small and fully distributed team, currently spanning from California to Australia and we take pride in our ability to function as an effective remote organization. We currently have Commsaurians spread over 15 countries, would you be adding a new flag to the team?
WHO IS COMMSOR?
The next 10 years will be dominated by community-led companies. But creating a successful community is often difficult and time-consuming. Commsor helps companies and teams build better communities. We're creating powerful community-centric tools including analytics, automation, intelligence, and more.
Most important to us at Commsor is that you possess the values we hold dear to us:
🌐  We put community first. Communities are the whole reason we exist — so we care about them a lot. Seeing communities thrive is pretty much our favorite thing, so we center them in everything we do.
🍃  We keep it light. Lightweight, that is. There are no extra points for the most complex solution to a problem. We delight our customers (and ourselves) with iterative results in pursuit of maximizing impact while reducing wasted time, energy, or resources.
⛰️  We embrace the hard stuff. We welcome change and challenges with a growth mindset and believe every hard thing is an opportunity to become better at what we do.
🙋 We own our outcomes. We're entrepreneurial at heart and put an emphasis on individual responsibility and autonomy. Everyone contributes to our success.
💟  We're the real deal. Communities flourish when its’ members have an enjoyable and safe space to be their authentic selves. We ensure everyone is encouraged to respectfully speak their mind, challenge the status quo and bring the fun.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:
  • The salary range for this role is between $110,000 and $140,000/annually
  • Fully remote and flexible set up: you get to choose your working hours (and days!), as long as your team is informed and the job gets done, we highly encourage you to take that midday walk, pick up your kids from school, take a well deserved nap or go for a run!
  • Unlimited annual leave: there is no limit on how many days off you take. A rested Commsaurian is a happy and productive one
  • Office set up allowance: when joining Commsor you will get $2,000 Home Office Stipend towards the purchase of any equipment you might need
  • Learning&Development Budget: each year you’ll receive a $1,000 professional development stipend, which can be used to purchase courses, books or webinar tickets
  • Enhanced Healthcare plans
  • Annual Off-site Retreat: next stop will be Portugal!
  • You will receive equity in a startup company that’s well funded and in a growing industry.
HOW WILL THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR THIS ROLE LOOK LIKE?
  1. First Interview, Hiring Manager initial screening call to assess broad role/team fit evaluation
  2. Second Interview, OS Team Interview with 2-3 members of the product and engineering team to gauge technical and role-specific competencies
  3. Final Interview, Cultural and Strategic Discussion with one representative from the Leadership Team and one representative from the People Ops Team to evaluate vision and cultural alignment
THIS SOUNDS GREAT, BUT WHAT EXACTLY ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Responsibilities
You'll be responsible for working cross-functionally with our Design, Product, and Engineering teams to continue building on our existing platform, conceptualize and plan new experiences, and map out solutions for a healthy share of our product roadmap. As a Product Designer, a lot of your work will be used directly by many of our users. You will be a key component in helping us find solutions to customer pain points and building those solutions with exceptional quality.
What you’ll get to do:
  • Run a collaborative, flexible, and iterative design practice including user research, user experience advocacy, internal and external socialization, and pride-of-ownership in design and user experience of the Commsor OS product
  • Partner with our customer-facing, product management, engineering, and ML teams to understand the business questions our customers have and the data that drives the insights
  • Research design initiatives with our customers and users, explore possible conceptual solutions in low-fidelity, and refine to mid-fidelity through iteration and testing
  • Own and contribute to the Commsor design system to enable rapid implementation
  • Deliver testable prototypes and high-polish final design artifacts by leveraging the Commsor design system in Figma
  • Ensure visual and interaction design quality in partnership with the UI engineering team who work in React
  • Ensure user experience quality by working closely with the engineering teams implementing data products to make sure the presentation of data is easy to understand and impactful
  • Partner with Product Management to advocate for design in the roadmapping and prioritization processes
  • Use your expertise in design to ensure that our users love their interactions with our product and that Commsor helps their communities and businesses thrive

You are:

  • Experienced with B2B SaaS and data products. You have ~5 years or more experience in a B2B SaaS environment.
  • Strong background in visual/interaction design, UX/UI, and data visualization and the ability to think through complex interaction design.
  • Great at expressing ideas through visuals and prototyping (we use Figma).
  • Have a strong visual taste, hold a high bar for aesthetics, and can produce work that reaches it. You appreciate the details in your work, and strive to get your hands dirty even in the smallest areas. You have a passion for design and figuring out best in class solutions to UX, UI and interaction challenges
  • Strategic Impact + results-oriented. Your presence is valued and requested at the strategic level. You will be turning customer problems into business solutions, not be turning use cases into mockups. This means you care about impacting the user, and deploying the right solution. You approach work with a principled and frame-worked way of thinking.
  • Systems Thinking. You know that good design doesn't just work in one isolated, silo'ed experience. You'll help us build the platform Community Leaders use to connect their members. That means helping us build out and maintain our Design System.
  • Design for clarity and action. You understand the significant purpose of design in data analysis. You can effectively design to surface hidden patterns or anomalies in data; to increase flexibility while analyzing certain values; to compare various information in order to determine differences or correlations; and to inspire real-time human interaction.
  • Human-centered – understand customer's needs and love generating new creative solutions
  • Experienced in using data visualization software
  • Collaborative and enjoy navigating complex decisions as a group
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and autonomy; highly adaptable to new circumstances
  • Naturally driven to find creative and efficient solutions
And last but not least... We’re a scale-up, they’re not for everyone, but if you roll with the punches like Muhammad Ali, can cope with changes in direction like a wind sock and love a bit of ambiguity mixed with some autonomy, we’re confident you have a place here
Doesn’t sound like you? I bet you know someone though! Feel free to share this with someone you feel would make an awesome addition to the Commsaurian squad!
Like the sound of this job but not quite the right role? Send us your CV anyway. We’re a growing company which means future opportunities!
We’re committed to building a culturally diverse team and strongly encourage you to apply regardless of your location, background, race, gender, sexual orientation or any other personally defining attribute. We encourage every person who is interested to apply. We’re imperfect communicators, so think of our job postings as the starting point for discussion rather than proof that you shouldn’t apply. Take the leap - you never know, you might just be the perfect person for one of our open roles, even if you don’t match 100% of the job description. We also commit to making our hiring decisions as quickly as possible in respect to our candidates’ time and effort. We aim to move successful candidates along the pipeline within 4 weeks from the time of the application
