About the Team

On the New Verticals Design Team, our goal is to empower local economies by expanding DoorDash beyond restaurant delivery. We build new experiences that bring DoorDash into markets such as Grocery, Alcohol, Retail, Pets, and many more. This is a high-impact role that requires a mix of entrepreneurship, cross-company collaboration, and well-honed product judgment, reporting to our Director of Product Design, New Verticals.

Organization Focus Areas

  • New Shopping Experiences - In this role, you'll help build DoorDash's newest shopping experiences such as Alcohol, Grocery, Retail, Pharmacies, and more. You'll launch experiences that give customers a tailored shopping experience while helping empower new merchants to join DoorDash and expand their customer base.
  • Group & Large Ordering - In this role, you’ll be focused on creating new consumer experiences that allow people to order catering and group orders through DoorDash. From sharing a menu with a friend to ordering food for a large event, this role will be laying the foundation for what will become a major business for DoorDash.

  • Explore complex, ambiguous problem spaces, working with your team to understand the opportunity, and then chart a path forward.
  • Improve the lives of millions of DoorDash customers and have a direct impact on our experience strategy.
  • Contextualize the holistic impact of your design in the dynamic ecosystem of the three-sided marketplace.
  • Use quantitative data and qualitative feedback to inform the design decisions iteratively.
  • Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as UX Research, Product Management, Engineering, Business Analytics, Operations, and Marketing.

  • You have 2+ years of experience as a product/UX designer in a relevant industry.
  • You thrive in ambiguous environments and bring clarity to your teams through your mastery of the design process and storytelling. 
  • You balance strategy, research, interaction design, and visual design to achieve simple and elegant solutions.
  • You value high-quality well crafted visual design and obsess over the details. 
  • You have experience simplifying complex problems. 
  • You are self-aware, curious, and humble.
  • Prior design experience in local, commerce, and logistics industry is a big plus
  • You have a portfolio showcasing problem-solving skills and high design caliber; you must provide a link to your portfolio to be considered for this role.
