Product Designer, New Segments

Since we first opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely – and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take a payment and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together. So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, run a busy kitchen, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. And across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow all in one place.

Today, we’re a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex commerce operations, sellers just starting out, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers scale, so do our solutions. We all grow together.

We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to join our New Segments team. As a subset of our broader Point of Sale team, you will be responsible for the expansion of our POS product into new international markets and business segments. You will partner and work with a team of Design peers, Researchers, Product Managers, and Engineers to shape our product strategy and contribute to our future roadmaps. Your work will help support small businesses as they get back on their feet, helping them build stronger relationships with their customers, and shaping the future of commerce.

Product Design at Square is a full-stack endeavor; your work will run the full gamut from primary research to information architecture, user testing, and visual design. In addition to contributing to the growth of our Point of Sale product, you will be an active member of the broader design community at Square.

This role is remote first.

You have

• Around 6 years of professional design experience
• A portfolio of work on which you were the primary designer
• The ability to connect your work to larger team or company initiatives

• You are an advocate for the customer
• You communicate your ideas and work to your direct team and other teams
• You take pride in the quality of your work and create professional, well-thought-out designs using established design systems
• You propose and participate in usability and field research
