Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
The Product Design team is composed of several teams that work together to help define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of the Stripe brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within a dedicated product area. In partnership with the product team, they help define the user-facing experiences our users encounter on Stripe products, then translate that thinking into a complete experience that can be tested, shipped, and refined. They are responsible for creating well-functioning and beautiful products and experiences that users love and are eager to recommend to others.
What you’ll do
For this role, you’ll be the sole designer working directly with the team that builds out the Stripe Dashboard mobile app. Areas you could work on include:
- Redesigning and improving the in-app payment creation flows for multiple payment methods (i.e. Tap to Pay, Payment Links, Invoices)
- Revamping the app’s visual design by building out common set of in-app native-first components and patterns
- Building out an in-app experience for Stripe sign-up and onboarding
- Shaping, building, and designing a notification system
You will:
- Design industry-leading mobile patterns and experiences that make it easier for our users to run their stripe business from a mobile device
- Establish and build out a design system for the mobile app so the team can build faster and at scale
- Shape the mobile roadmap by prototyping and pitching new ideas we haven’t even thought of yet, and gaining cross-functional buy-in
- Independently lead design initiatives for the team from shaping through execution; partnering closely with engineering through implementation
- Work in a highly collaborative fashion with design, product, engineering and project teams
- Partner closely with product and engineering to shape and define team strategy and roadmaps
- Partner closely with user research team and data science to support ongoing research projects
- Turn ambiguous problems into concrete products, from proposal, to kick-off, vision, building, and launch
- Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with design and company leadership
- Work closely with our partner teams, including Dashboard, Payments, Billing, and more, to create a end-to-end experience that feels coherent
- Advocate for mobile internally, ensuring teams understand mobile’s audience and opportunities for mobile build products in a way that considers how users get the right help when they need it
- Work closely with designers on your team to develop and expand product design systems
- Sometimes work on very broadly defined, loose concepts, and sometimes on narrowly defined, tactical deliverables
- Focus on what you do best — whether that’s sketches, wireframes, prototypes, designs, or code—and you’ll have the opportunity to sharpen the skills you’re looking to develop
- Work in a highly collaborative fashion with the design, product, and project teams across Stripe
- Partner closely with user researchers, content designers, brand designers, and other disciplines
- Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with the design and company leadership
