Join the team as our next Product Designer on the Journey Orchestration team.

Who we are & why we’re hiring

Twilio powers real-time business communications and data solutions that help companies and developers worldwide build better applications and customer experiences.

Although we're headquartered in San Francisco, we have presence throughout South America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We're on a journey to becoming a global company that actively opposes racism and all forms of oppression and bias. At Twilio, we support diversity, equity & inclusion wherever we do business.

About the job

This is a unique opportunity to provide design partnership in multiple high-impact focus areas in Journeys.

As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll define the end-to-end workflows of marketers who rely on Segment’s automation platform to build and manage their customer journeys so that they can deliver campaigns across multiple channels. You will be partnering closely with Research, Product and Engineering, and apply your expertise to a variety of product areas that require a deep understanding of user needs, technical constraints, and business goals.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Segment’s product vision and strategy. Use this knowledge to influence design decisions and bring alignment across teams.
  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and other product designers to help Journeys iterate on existing experiences, launch new products, and shape the strategic vision for Segment’s campaign automation platform.
  • Keep a pulse on market trends, user needs, and business goals to drive innovative product experiences.
  • Partner closely with research or lead your own research to gain insights into the needs, behaviors, and pain points of our users, and use these insights to create user-centric solutions that address real-world challenges.
  • Lead the end-to-end design process, from concept ideation to delivering high-fidelity designs that empower, delight, and excite our users.
  • Leverage our design system to solve customer problems creatively — and contribute to said design system.

Qualifications

Not all applicants will have skills that match a job description exactly. Twilio values diverse experiences in other industries, and we encourage everyone who meets the required qualifications to apply. While having “desired” qualifications make for a strong candidate, we encourage applicants with alternative experiences to also apply. If your career is just starting or hasn't followed a traditional path, don't let that stop you from considering Twilio. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!

Required:

  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Product Designer, ideally working on developer or no-code tooling or other Platform as a Service or SaaS solutions.
  • Strong ability to work across different stakeholders, including product managers, engineers, and other designers to develop product strategy.
  • Ability to ramp up quickly in a technical space and translate complex concepts into simple solutions.
  • Experience in user research and user testing, and a data-informed perspective to design.
  • Comfortable with 0-1 product motions, which involve moving fast and using experimentation to test your assumptions, and continuously incorporate feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and help drive product requirements through design thinking.
  • A deep desire to constantly improve, up-level your quality of work, and collaborate with a fun team along the way.

Desired:

Low-code workflow-building  - The Journeys system is a low-code workflow builder, with a simple customer-facing UI, but considerable complexity under the hood. A strong candidate will have experience building workflows in other applications and can apply that experience to Twilio. A highly differentiated candidate will have SaaS experience building workflow products. Marketer Empathy - Our applications and data products ultimately serve marketing use cases. A differentiated candidate will be able to use past marketing experience to better connect with our customers and convey needs to engineers. A differentiated candidate will have had prior experience building products for marketers or working in a marketing function.
