Drug discovery is a design problem. Chemists spend hours each week combining experimental data with their own intuition to design molecules that they believe will be potent against a biological target, absorb well into the body, and be non-toxic. This effort takes years to succeed and costs millions of dollars – all while patients’ needs for new therapeutics go unmet.

At Inductive Bio, we believe better tools can dramatically improve how molecules are designed. We're building a Figma-like platform for drug discovery teams, backed by state-of-the-art AI, to make the design of new therapeutics faster, more collaborative, and more effective. Our platform is already being used on dozens of small molecule drug discovery programs, and adoption is rapidly growing. We are backed by leading investors at the intersection of technology and biotechnology, and our team includes world-class AI, software, and drug discovery experts.

We are seeking a Product Designer to join our talented, ambitious, and kind team. You’ll work directly with our scientific users to deeply understand their workflows and design beautiful, intuitive experiences that empower them to design better drugs faster. As the first design hire at a rapidly-growing startup, you’ll have the opportunity for high impact, taking features from discovery through to launch – helping to shape the product, brand, and future of Inductive Bio.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and refine UX flows that help scientists use AI to make better drugs

  • Immerse yourself in needs and pain points of chemists, biologists, and other scientific users

  • Join customer conversations and conduct interviews to uncover opportunities and validate designs

  • Prototype new ideas using tools like Figma or front-end code, leveraging AI-assisted design and prototyping tools as appropriate

  • Help users visualize and collaborate on complex scientific data, simplifying highly technical workflows into intuitive experiences

  • Build and maintain design systems that ensure consistency, usability, and maintainability across the platform

  • Contribute to product strategy and decisions, working closely with the founders, engineers, and scientific advisors to shape our roadmap

  • Assist with graphic design throughout the company, including sales, marketing, and branding

  • Move fast, make tradeoffs thoughtfully, and focus on delivering user value quickly

Who you are:

  • 4+ years of experience designing complex, interactive web applications. Bonus points for startup experience

  • Deep user empathy and experience conducting user research, usability testing, and iterative design

  • Strong UI craft — a great eye for detail, typography, layout, and visual design

  • Proficiency with modern design tools like Figma; bonus points for front-end software engineering skills and comfort using AI tools to speed up prototyping

  • Experience designing complex workflows for technical users (scientists, engineers, or other specialists) is a strong plus

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working collaboratively with engineers, scientists, and users

  • Startup mindset — comfortable with ambiguity, excited to move fast and learn quickly, and energized by solving real problems for users

  • Passion for building tools that help accelerate scientific discovery and impact human health
