Grammarly offers a remote-first hybrid working model. Team members can work primarily remotely. Teams will meet in person every quarter in one of Grammarly’s hubs, currently in San Francisco, Vancouver, New York, and Kyiv. To ensure that teams are able to overlap in their working hours and to meet face-to-face when needed, all team members need to live within three time zones of their direct team.

Product Designer (Grammarly for Developers) — San Francisco

Grammarly team members who will be collaborating at our San Francisco hub must be based in the United States.

The opportunity

Grammarly empowers people to thrive and connect, whenever and wherever they communicate. Every day, 30 million people and 30,000 teams around the world use our AI-powered writing assistant. All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Product Designer to join our Product Design team and provide support for the Grammarly for Developers platform.

Our Grammarly for Developers platform allows third-party applications to integrate Grammarly's writing assistance into their products. This is a unique opportunity to understand not only the needs of Grammarly end users but also the needs of third-party developers who are responsible for integrating Grammarly into their products.

This Product Designer role will be responsible for designing a platform and support applications that allow developers to easily integrate Grammarly into their products. This person will also collaborate with product teams across the organization to adapt Grammarly’s core features to Grammarly for Developer product offerings. This role will also partner with Design, Research, Product, and Engineering to design and deliver strong UX solutions.

Your impact

As a Product Designer on the Product Design team working on Grammarly for Developers, you will be responsible for opening up Grammarly's AI-powered writing assistance to be integrated into third-party software platforms. Examples of integration include:

  • Improving writing assistance in B2B apps for support, sales, marketing, productivity, etc.
  • Improving user-generated content in marketplaces and communities.
  • Making professional content creation and publishing workflows more efficient.
  • Integrating to internal enterprise applications.
  • Combining with other forms of assistance.

In this role, you will:

  • Learn how to take a product from 0 to 1.
  • Learn how to create product offerings that serve both developers and end users.
  • Develop a growth mindset and pattern recognition for design that drives product growth.
  • Be a part of a team that is constantly optimizing process and product.
  • Problem-solve, think big, and explore divergent concepts/ideas while understanding how to converge and build iteratively toward a vision.
  • Plan strategically and think tactically as a partner with Product and Engineering to define the future of the team.
  • Influence the shape of the product with research and data while executing design work using high-quality wireframes, mockups, user journeys, and cross-platform interactive prototypes.
  • Advocate for design by sharing your work and presenting cross-functionally while precisely articulating design rationale.
  • Inspire the team and cross-functional partners by bringing new ideas to the table.

We’re looking for someone who

  • Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years of experience designing websites or mobile apps and a relevant work portfolio that shows a strong product design process.
  • Likes taking ownership, is a self-starter, and enjoys driving projects from beginning to end.
  • Is highly efficient and can handle multiple projects and hit deadlines on time.
  • Can effectively communicate your ideas and design decisions and can rationalize proposals.
  • Has an appreciation of the entire product development process, from problem-solving through to detailed interaction and visual design.
  • Has a growth mindset and likes using data to inform design decisions and knows how to balance creative and analytical roles.
  • Is able to bring in multiple stakeholders early on in projects and take in feedback and make decisions inferred by it.
  • Can consider the complexities of multiple users and edge cases to consider and design an end-to-end experience for all.
  • Can create beautiful high-fidelity mockups of your designs using Figma, Sketch, etc.
  • Is comfortable with creating detailed prototypes using interactive design tools like Flinto, Principle, After Effects, etc.

Support for you, professionally and personally

We also offer support to set up a home office, ample and defined time off, gym and recreation stipends, 401(k) matching, and more.
  • For Colorado-based employment: The salary range for this position is $89,000 - $220,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Please note that Grammarly’s COVID-19 vaccination policy requires that all team members in North America be vaccinated against COVID-19 to meet in person for Grammarly business or to work from a North America hub location. It is expected that this will be a requirement for this role. Qualified candidates in North America who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons or because of a sincerely held religious belief may request a reasonable accommodation to this policy.
