Product Designer (Foundations - Connected Devices)

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. As the core layer of Square's platform, Foundations serves all applications introduced into Square's seller ecosystem. The Connected Devices team bridges the gap between physical hardware and software, enabling sellers to set up, monitor, and manage their device fleet from anywhere. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with a diverse team of UX researchers, product managers, engineers, and data analysts. You will lead the end-to-end design process, including discovery, information architecture, rapid prototyping, and high-polish visual design to influence the product roadmap to define and deliver a long-term vision for connected devices.

You will report to the Design Lead for Foundations and work with a team of five other Product Designers.

You Will:

• Create end-to-end product design approaches on features that empower businesses and the people behind them.
• Guide design execution, improve the seller experience, and work with team members (think researchers, product managers and engineers) to launch features.
• Think holistically about complex systems, empathize with users, and understand goals to create compelling user experiences.

You Have:

• Around 5 years of professional design experience

• A portfolio of work that reflects your strengths in both UX and visual design skills in which you were the primary designer, with moderate guidance from design leadership

• Experience connecting your design work with product, team, and company goals

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Zone A: USD $152,100 - USD $185,900
Zone B: USD $144,500 - USD $176,700
Zone C: USD $136,900 - USD $167,300
Zone D: USD $129,300 - USD $158,100
