About the role

Hi, my name is Robert, and I am the Head of Design here at Found. I care deeply about building intuitive and beautiful products to enable our self-employed customers to focus on doing what they do best — running their businesses.

I work closely with the design team daily to tackle exciting problems on behalf of our users. From simplifying bookkeeping, banking, and taxes to collecting the right insights that inform significant product decisions to developing final user flows our customers will love. The design team collaborates closely with product and engineering on everything from user experience to visual design to scalable design systems and our team culture.

We’re looking for team members who believe that financial services don’t have to be ugly and scary but instead can be clean, clear, and enjoyable to use. As a member of our growing team, you’ll be directly responsible for building and shaping what we create.

Day to day, you will:

• Partner with product and engineering to define, create, build, and release new features across our mobile and desktop touchpoints.

• Communicate your design concepts via mockups, flows, wireframes, and prototypes.

• Collaborate on product planning, prioritization, and product road mapping.

• Partner closely with our user research team and support ongoing research and user insights generation.

• Work on very broadly defined, loose concepts and sometimes narrowly defined, clear deliverables.

• Deliver well-documented flows to engineering

• Develop and expand product design systems in collaboration with other designers

• Participate in design reviews and share your work regularly with the design and company leadership

To thrive in this role, you have:

• 6+ years of product design experience for digital products and systems across mobile and web platforms. 

• Experience building consumer products, where fit, finish, and delight are competitive advantages.

• Comfortable executing against core product design skill sets: visual design, prototyping, interaction design, and information architecture.

• Think in systems and can extrapolate and extend shared patterns and behaviors.

• Are skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work

• Can reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use

• A sense of humor. You welcome feedback, and when you stumble, you get back up. You adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and feel an inherent need to grow and learn.

You may also have:

• Experience with Figma, our design tool of choice.

• Motion/animation design experience.

• Previous startup experience and demonstrated flexibility, initiative, and founder-focused mentality necessary to be successful in a startup environment.

• Experience or interest in financial services, accounting, and self-employment.

• Passion for learning and growing as a designer and team member.
