Product Designer

Today, over 100 million Americans don’t want or can’t get a credit card. Yet, there are very few alternatives for establishing your credit other than with a risky Credit Card. Our mission is to make credit building safer, smarter, and more accessible for everyone. Extra is the first debit card that builds your credit history and earns rewards points just like a credit card. Our technology uses your cash history to determine your spending limit, so there’s no need for a credit check.

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for a talented UX & UI designer to join our product team. We need someone who can demonstrate a command of product design, user empathy, and usability so we can improve our existing features and design new, world-class products. We want someone who thinks critically, who can collaborate with departments and individuals, and who can think ahead in terms of design decisions and their impact on the current needs and future scalability of the product. We want someone who loves challenges, takes initiative and is incredibly passionate about experiences. Could you see yourself in this role?

What you’ll do:

• Synthesize business requirements and product manager specs and accomplish them through design
• Design user experiences that are intuitive, engaging, and on-brand
• Advocate for and empathize with our customers and their lifecycle with Extra
• Create wireframes and flow charts for new product lines and product improvements
• Step back and help build product design strategy so the product UX scales to meet near term and future needs
• Maintain and update our component libraries in our design system
• Work with the team to make data driven decisions around product designs
• Research and build prototypes

Minimum Basic Requirements

• At least 4 years doing product design for consumer-facing applications that shipped to market
• Mastery of Figma
• Have a portfolio that is visually stunning and demonstrates an understanding of the modern design landscape

Preferred Qualifications

• Execute visually stunning UI and UX skills
• Create rapid prototypes that internal stakeholders can use in Invision, Figma, Sketch, or similar
• Run user A/B tests and conduct user research and usability panels
• Comfortability with Storybook
• Started up a company or launched your own product into the market from scratch
• Enjoy fast-paced environments, willing to try ideas and fail, able to provide and receive critical feedback, a good sense of humor, and desire to put the success of the team ahead of yourself
• Experience working with Notion
• Plus: previous fintech experience and in-app freemium experiences
