We are looking for an early career product designer to develop design systems, research user needs, and deliver high quality mocks for mobile, desktop, and potentially 3D tasks and games. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and the neuroscience team to create useful and engaging experiences. You must have a portfolio of projects that demonstrate an understanding of product thinking, visual design skills, and interaction. You will work through prototyping new UI and building new ways of interacting with Kernel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Take conceptual ideas and turn them into useful and valuable deliverable for people using our products
Work collaboratively with Research, Engineering, Product, other cross functional teams
Drive planning and execution by gathering requirements, reducing complexity, and proposing viable solutions
Own components of variable products such as marketing materials, slide decks, apps, and websites
Provide implementation guidelines and specifications to the engineering team to make shipping products smooth and efficient
Articulate your solutions to key stakeholders, and gather feedback about how to improve and execute your solutions
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1-2+ years of industry experience designing software solutions
You must have experience with core design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Framer, InDesign, Principle, or an ability to learn existing workflow quickly
Experience working in technical environment and cross functional collaboration
Experience with research and data driven product development
Portfolio of prior work must be submitted with your application as a link or PDF
PREFERRED SKILLS:
An interest in neural user interface, neuroscience, or brain data
A knowledge of core web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JS
Experience or interest in 3D or VR or any prototyping experience
Experience working on marketing materials and an eye for visuals
Interest or experience working with hardware
Desire to work on site in a flexible office environment
